The industry was given personal hearing by the Senior Environmental Engineer, Zonal Office-2, Patiala of the Board for refusal of renewal of consents to operate under the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 on 17/10/2022, wherein, it was decided as under: 1.    Environmental Engineer, Regional Office, Fatehgarh Sahib will visit the Industry to verify the claim of the industry and submit report thereof within 3 days. 2.    Consent application will be reprocessed by the Regional Office incorporating the report of the latest visit to be carried out by the Regional Office. The consent application be be processed with clear cut recommendations to decide the cases. To verify the compliance, undersigned has visited the industry on 21/10/2022 and it was observed as under: 1.        The service station has an agency of 4 wheeler and 2 wheeler and was in operation. 2.        The service station has provided 1 no. washing bay each in the wheeler section and 2 wheeler section from which effluent is generated. The effluent from the 4 wheeler section is first collected in the twin compartment collection tank and then taken to ETP, where collection tank with an oil skimmer has been provided for removal of oil and grease. The effluent from 2 wheeler section directly comes into this collection tank of the ETP from here the effluent is taken to collection tank, chemical dosing cum mixing tank, tube settler, sump, Filtration unit. 3.        ETP was in operation during visit. It has replaced water pump for lifting of effluent from collection tank to chemical dosing, which was lying defunct during earlier visit. 4.        Flow meter has been provided at the outlet of ETP and the same was operational. 5.        The representative of the unit informed that the ETP is operated batch wise and chemical dosing is done with polyelectrolyte, caustic and lime in the dosing cum mixing tank. 6.        The service station started maintaining the record of energy meter as well as ETP outlet water meter, as guided during earlier visit.   <p class="MsoListParagraph" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: -27.0pt; line-height: normal; mso-list: l1 level1 lfo2; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none; margin: .1pt 0in .0001pt 27.0pt;">7.        The domestic effluent generated from the service station is being discharged into the collection tank of the ETP after passing through septic tank. <p class="MsoListParagraph" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: -27.0pt; line-height: normal; mso-list: l1 level1 lfo2; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none; margin: 0in 0in .0001pt 27.0pt;">8.        The service station is having one no. paint booth equipped with paint filters and the outlet of the same is attached to stack of adequate height of 3.5 meters above roof level. <p class="MsoListParagraph" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: -27.0pt; line-height: normal; mso-list: l1 level1 lfo2; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none; margin: 0in 0in .0001pt 27.0pt;">9.        The service station has provided one no. silent DG set of capacity 40 KVA. 10.     The service station has stored used oil and oil filters in separate room. In view of the above, it is recommended that show cause notice already issued to the industry under Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 may be dropped and it may be issued 'consent to operate' under the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 upto adequacy of consent fee i.e. 30/09/2025.
