<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; text-align: justify; line-height: 18.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 13.5pt; font-family: Tahoma, sans-serif;">The spent HCL is hazardous waste as per HWM Rules, 2016 specified under category 12.2 of scheduled-I and the said rules do not allow to dispose of the hazardous waste by mixing the same with the trade effluent even its is of very small quantity. The hazardous waste is to be handled/regularized under HWM Rules, 2016 and not under Water Act, 1974. The industry has not obtained authorization as is mandatory under HWM Rules, 2016 for disposal of its hazardous waste i.e. spent HCL. M/s JBR Technology Pvt. Ltd., located at Phase-8, Focal Point, Ludhiana is meant for treatment of trade effluent from electroplating industries etc. and not to receive or treat any hazardous waste including spent HCL. M/s JBR Technology Pvt. Ltd. has not obtained authorization to receive hazardous waste i.e. spent HCL of the Board for its unit at phase-8, Ludhiana or at Kohara. Its unit at Kohara has not cancelled agreements for receiving spent HCL even on directions of the Board and orders of the Appellate Authority. It is the grave violation on the part of industry and M/s JBR Technology Pvt. Ltd., located at Phase-8, Focal Point, Ludhiana. The matter of illegal disposal of spent HCL is being flashed in newspapers and continuous complaints are also there from the public.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; line-height: normal;"><span style="font-family: Tahoma, sans-serif;"> It is recommended that action for the violation of Water Act, 1974 and HWM, Rules 2016 may be taken against the industry and also for violation of HWM, Rules 2016 against M/s JBR Technology Pvt. Ltd.</span></p> |
