<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 56.7pt; text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-IN">Earlier, the Consent to Establish under the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, and Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 was granted to the industry for the production of </span>Steel Ingots/Billets (75,240 TPA) @ 250.8 T/day <span lang="EN-IN">which is valid up to 11.09.2023 subject to suitable conditions.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 56.7pt; text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-IN">Now, the industry has applied for Consent to Operate under the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, and the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 for the production of Steel Ingots/Billets @ 250.8 MTD by using MS Scrap @ 272.98 TPD and Ferro Alloys @ 5.56 TPD as raw material along with requisite documents and fees. The documents submitted by the industry may kindly be perused.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 56.7pt; text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-IN">The industry has earlier proposed 2 no. Induction furnaces of capacity 12 TPH and 7 TPH by replacing existing furnaces of capacity 8 TPH. However, the industry has installed only one furnace of 12 TPH till date and the other furnace will be installed later. The industry has submitted a provisional Completion certificate of APCD with the furnace of capacity 12 TPH from PSCST vide no. 525 dated 03/11/22.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 56.7pt; text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-IN">The industry was visited by the undersigned on 30.11.2022 and it was observed as under: -</span></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpFirst" style="text-indent: -0.25in; text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]--><span lang="EN-IN">1.<span style="font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"> </span></span><!--[endif]--><span lang="EN-IN">The industry was in operation during the visit.</span></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-indent: -0.25in; text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]--><span lang="EN-IN">2.<span style="font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"> </span></span><!--[endif]--><span lang="EN-IN">The induction furnace of capacity 12 TPH was in operation during the visit.</span></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-indent: -0.25in; text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]--><span lang="EN-IN">3.<span style="font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"> </span></span><!--[endif]--><span lang="EN-IN">The industry has installed a side suction hood with a Bag filter house as APCD along with adequate stack height. The air emission samples were collected by the Board and the results (Particulate matter @ 78mg/Nm<sup>3</sup>) are within the prescribed limits of the Board.</span></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-indent: -0.25in; text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]--><span lang="EN-IN">4.<span style="font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"> </span></span><!--[endif]--><span lang="EN-IN">The domestic effluent is discharged onto land for plantation after the septic tank.</span></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-indent: -0.25in; text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]--><span lang="EN-IN">5.<span style="font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"> </span></span><!--[endif]--><span lang="EN-IN">The public hearing was earlier held as per EIA Notification dated 2006. The Environmental Clearance for the said expansion has been obtained by the industry.</span></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-indent: -0.25in; text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]--><span lang="EN-IN">6.<span style="font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"> </span></span><!--[endif]--><span lang="EN-IN">The industry has not developed a plantation area as per the Site plan in compliance with the conditions of Environmental Clearance.</span></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpLast" style="text-indent: -0.25in; text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]--><span lang="EN-IN">7.<span style="font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"> </span></span><!--[endif]--><span lang="EN-IN">The industry has not submitted a Compliance report of conditions of Environmental Clearance in annotated form till date. It is also added that this office has been directed to ensure that consent to operate case may be processed in the future keeping in consideration the holistic compliance of Environment Clearance to be made by the industry (Vide application no. 19930252)</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 56.7pt; text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-IN">In view of the above, if approved, a show-cause notice may be issued to the industry for refusal of Consent to Operate under the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, and Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 along with the opportunity of personal hearing for above said reasons.</span></p>
