<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 56.7pt; text-align: justify;">The industry was visited by the undersigned on 05.05.2022 as per the directions received and it was observed as under: -</p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpFirst" style="text-indent: -0.25in; text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]--><span lang="EN-IN">1.<span style="font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"> </span></span><!--[endif]--><span lang="EN-IN">The industry was in operation during the visit and was engaged in the manufacturing of copper ingots and copper rods/wires from copper ingots. </span></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-indent: -0.25in; text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]--><span lang="EN-IN">2.<span style="font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"> </span></span><!--[endif]--><span lang="EN-IN">The industry has installed 2 nos. oil-fired furnaces of capacity 200 kg/day & 100 kg/day and has provided hoods with common wet scrubber as APCD on this furnace. The suction of the emissions was not proper.</span></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-indent: -0.25in; text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]--><span lang="EN-IN">3.<span style="font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"> </span></span><!--[endif]--><span lang="EN-IN">The furnaces were in operation during the visit but the APCD was not in operation. There was no water in the water re-circulation tank of the wet scrubber.</span></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-indent: -0.25in; text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]--><span lang="EN-IN">4.<span style="font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"> </span></span><!--[endif]--><span lang="EN-IN">There is no generation of trade effluent and only domestic effluent was being discharged into the sewer. </span></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpLast" style="text-indent: -0.25in; text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]--><span lang="EN-IN">5.<span style="font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"> </span></span><!--[endif]--><span lang="EN-IN">The industry has installed 1 no. D.G set of capacity 125 KVA with canopy and adequate stack height. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 56.7pt; text-align: justify;">Accordingly, a Show-cause notice was issued to the industry along with the opportunity of a personal hearing on 12/09/22 wherein it was decided as under:-</p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpFirst" style="text-indent: -0.25in; text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]--><span lang="EN-IN">1.<span style="font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"> </span></span><!--[endif]--><span lang="EN-IN">The industry shall operate its all pollution control devices regularly and efficiently, so as to ensure that compliance with various prescribed standards is achieved.</span></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-indent: -0.25in; text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]--><span lang="EN-IN">2.<span style="font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"> </span></span><!--[endif]--><span lang="EN-IN">The industry shall ensure that in the future no black smoke is emitted.</span></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-indent: -0.25in; text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]--><span lang="EN-IN">3.<span style="font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"> </span></span><!--[endif]--><span lang="EN-IN">On the basis of the Best Judgement Assessment, an Environmental Compensation of Rs 20,000/- is imposed and the same shall be deposited within 15 days by the industry with the Environmental Engineer, Regional Office I, Ludhiana.</span></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-indent: -0.25in; text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]--><span lang="EN-IN">4.<span style="font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"> </span></span><!--[endif]--><span lang="EN-IN">The industry shall apply for consent to operate under the Air Act, 1981, within 15 days.</span></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpLast" style="text-indent: -0.25in; text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]--><span lang="EN-IN">5.<span style="font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"> </span></span><!--[endif]--><span lang="EN-IN">The Environmental Engineer, Regional Office-I, Ludhiana shall visit the industry after 15 days, shall verify the statement of the industry, shall monitor its Pollution control devices, and shall submit further recommendations in the matter.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 56.7pt; text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-IN">Now, the industry has applied for Consent to Operate under the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, and the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 along with requisite documents and fees. The documents submitted by the industry may kindly be perused.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 56.7pt; text-align: justify;">The industry was again visited in compliance to the proceedings of personal hearing and to process the consent applications on 23/11/22 and it was observed as under: -</p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpFirst" style="text-indent: -0.25in; text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]--><span lang="EN-IN">1.<span style="font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"> </span></span><!--[endif]--><span lang="EN-IN">The industry was in operation during the visit and was engaged manufacturing of copper ingots and copper rod/wires from copper ingots. </span></p>

<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-indent: -0.25in; text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]-->4.<span style="font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"> </span><!--[endif]--><span lang="EN-IN">The effluent samples were collected during visit. However, as per results of Zonal Lab, Ludhiana endst no. 1922 dated 01/12/22 (recd. On 05/12/22), the results are slightly above the prescribed limits of the Board. (Particulate matter @ 163 mg/Nm<sup>3</sup> against 150 mg/Nm<sup>3</sup>). </span></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-indent: -0.25in; text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]-->5.<span style="font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"> </span><!--[endif]--><span lang="EN-IN">There is no generation of trade effluent and only domestic effluent was being discharged into sewer. </span></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpLast" style="text-indent: -0.25in; text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]-->6.<span style="font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"> </span><!--[endif]--><span lang="EN-IN">The industry has now deposited Rs 20,000/- as Environmental Compensation vide R. No. 98/5165 dated 18/10/22.</span></p>
