It is submitted that the CTO earlier granted to the service station was revoked as the service station had changed mode of disposal and the ETP was not working properly. The competent authority after considering the facts had revoked the CTO. Thereafter the representative of service station approached this office and requested that they had now obtained permission from concerned local body for discharge of treated effluent into sewer and the sewer was connected to terminal STP. They requested that they wanted to obtain varied CTO with changed mode of disposal and that ETP was working properly. They requested that samples of treated effluent may be collected so that they could apply for varied CTO. Accordingly, the samples were collected by this office to check if the treated effluent met with the standards as per changed mode of disposal and the treated effluent sample met the prescribed parameters. It is however admitted that collection of samples while pending action is against the policy of the board and it is assured that utmost care will be taken in future to avoid such incidents.

It is added here that the service station was now visited by the Environmental Engineer along with AEE on 12/01/2023 and it was observed that the ETP was working properly and the service station was complying with the provisions of the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974.

Keeping the position explained above it is recommended that CTO under Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 may be granted upto 30/09/2026 with suitable conditions.
|
