<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The industry is a small scale orange category induction furnace unit, engaged in manufacturing of Stainless Steel Castings. The industry has applied for fresh consent under Water Act, 1974 and Air Act, 1981 through OCMMS. The industry has submitted classification of area certificate issued from DTP, Jalandhar in which it is mentioned that the site of the industry falls in General Industrial Zone as per Master Plan 2009-2031. The industry has submitted registration certificate as per proof of date of commissioning.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The industry was visited by officers of Regional Office-1, Jalandhar on 25.11.2022 and observed that the industry was in operation and has installed 1 no. electric induction furnace of capacity 0.150 TPH with bag filter house as APCD with adequate stack height and 1 No. LDO fired shell baking of furnace. During visit, black smoke was seen emitting from its stack at the time of entering the industry. Thereafter, black smoke was observed from its stack again during visit on 25.11.2022. The air emission sample from stack of induction furnace were collected during visit on 11.10.2022 and SPM -30 mg/Nm3 which is within the permissible limits prescribed by the Board.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Accordingly, SCN for refusal of consent under Air Act, 1981 was issued to industry with hearing at Zonal office on 27/12/2022 but the industry failed to attend the hearing.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>This is a CTO case pending with Board for more than one month and accordingly to dispose off the case it is recommended that fresh consent to operate under Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 may be granted to the industry upto 30.09.2024 with usual conditions and industry may be directed to use high quality LDO and check its feeding quality to avoid emission of black smoke and ensure that no black smoke is emitted from the stack in future.</p>
