<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The industry is a small-scale red category unit, located in Leather Complex, Jalandhar engaged in the process of manufacturing of finished leather @ 15000 kg/day from raw hide with trade effluent @ 125 KLD into drain leading to CETP. The industry was granted consent under Water Act, 1974 valid upto 30.06.2020 and Air Act, 1981 valid upto 30.06.2022</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Thereafter, in compliance of orders of Hon'ble High Court, the Board decided for the closure of industries (61 tannery units included this unit) and PSPCL authorities were directed to disconnect the electric connection available with the industry and consent under Water Act, 1974 granted to the industry was revoked.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Thereafter, the industry was granted consent under Water Act, 1974 dated 23.10.2020 valid upto 31.03.2021 for dry finishing and manufacturing of crust leather @ 1800 sq.mtr/day and the electric connection of the industry was restored temporarily upto 31.03.2021, further extended from time to time and lastly upto 31.12.2021.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The industry has now applied for renewal of consent under Water Act, 1974 alongwith restoration. As per report of Regional Office, the industry has consumed 5361 KL of fresh water in the process since 01.09.2022 and has discharged 5134 KL into the CETP drain. As such the record seems to be in consonance.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The CTO under the Water Act, 1974 as per note dated 23/12/2022 has been already principally approved. The case is submitted for approval of temporary restoration for a further period of six months or till validity of CTO for the CETP whichever is earlier (as proposed vide note dated 02/01/2023. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></p>
