<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span lang="EN-IN">Kindly peruse the note and recommendation given by RO. It is intimated that </span><span lang="EN-IN">the </span>industry was granted the varied consent to operate under the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, for the casting of goods @ 135 TPD, valid up to 31/3/2023.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"> Earlier a public complaint was received in the Board from the residents of Village Sialba Majri regarding the dumping of black burnt sand by the industry in the residential area causing air and water pollution and endangering the life of the general public of the village. <span lang="EN-IN"> </span></span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span lang="EN-IN"> Accordingly, the site was visited by AEE RO who reported that black burnt sand was generated from the sand plant of the foundry, and the same was lifted by the local resident for utilizing in the landfilling purpose during construction, the industry has dumped the black burnt sand in the panchayat land on the demand of the Village Sarpanch near the bank of the natural perennial flow of Nallah, which is passing within the Village of Sialba Majri. The complainant alleged that during the rainy season, the dump of black burnt sand obstruct the natural flow of choe causing water logging in the area. The industry has not made arrangements to store/ handle the black burnt sand on its premises. </span><span lang="EN-IN"> The industry did not comply with the provisions of the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981.</span></span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span lang="EN-IN">Therefore, the industry was served n</span>otice u/s 31-A of the Air ) Act, 1981 along with an opportunity for a personal hearing before the Chairman of the Board on 28/9/2022, and the Chairman of the Board decided as under:</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">1. The industry shall remove the burnt sand from the low-lying areas where the same has earlier been disposed off by it, within one month and the same shall be transported/disposed off in a scientific manner so as to ensure that no nuisance is created in the area. The vacated low-lying areas shall be filled with good earth and developed with green belts and plantations.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">2. The industry shall submit a proposal to the Board for scientific disposal of 90 MT/day of burnt sand out of 160 MT/day being generated by it as 70 MT/day is being lifted to M/s Perfect International as claimed by the industry. </span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">3. The industry shall carry out an expenditure of Rs.5.0 lacs under the CSR activities for planting saplings in the surrounding areas/villages.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">4. The Regional Office, SAS Nagar/Ropar shall jointly visit the industry, namely, M/s Perfect International, Banmajra to verify whether the industry has sufficient infrastructure as well as a suitable technology to scientifically reprocess the burnt sand @ 70 MT daily as claimed by the industry.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Now the industry has applied for renewal CTO underAir Act,1981, and RO has reported that <span lang="EN-IN">The industry was in operation and is a casting unit & engaged in the business of manufacturing casting for tractor parts i.e. gearbox, differential housing & crankshaft, etc. by using MS, Pig iron as main raw material. The industry has installed two induction furnaces, core plants, and sand plants and it has installed adequate APCD to control the emissions generated from the manufacturing process and made an agreement with another industry to handle the black burnt sand generated from it, the industry is complying with the provisions of Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 as well as decisions of the personal hearing held on 28.09.2022.</span></span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-IN" style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">if approved Renewal under Air Act, 1981 may be granted to the industry up to 31.03.2025 subject to suitable and additional conditions as proposed by EE, RO.EE, RO may also be requested to monitor the industry as per protocol framed by the Board to verify compliance with environmental law as well as compliance with proceeding decisions.</span></p>
