CTOW/Renewal/JAL2/2022/18953931 dated 15.06.2022 valid upto 30.06.2027.</span></p>

Forging Hammers alongwith furnace oil fired reheating furnaces. </span></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraph" style="line-height: 150%; mso-list: l1 level1 lfo2; tab-stops: 55.05pt; margin: .35pt 63.75pt .0001pt 78.0pt;"><!-- [if !supportLists]--><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt; line-height: 150%;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;">2.<span style="font: 7.0pt 'Times New Roman';"> </span></span></span><!--[endif]--><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt; line-height: 150%;">The industry carries out nickle-plating at the backside of the industry adjoining to the CETP drain. The industry has provided a permanent hole in the wall for discharge of electroplating effluent into the CETP drain. </span></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraph" style="line-height: 150%; mso-list: l1 level1 lfo2; tab-stops: 55.05pt; margin: .35pt 63.75pt .0001pt 78.0pt;"><!-- [if !supportLists]--><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt; line-height: 150%;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;">3.<span style="font: 7.0pt 'Times New Roman';"> </span></span></span><!--[endif]--><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt; line-height: 150%;">During visit, the underground tank provided for collection of untreated effluent from electroplating section was full and untreated effluent was being discharged into CETP drain through the hole.</span></p>

As per the analysis results the parameters were found to be beyond the prescribed limits of the Board</span></p>

<p class="MsoListParagraph" style="line-height: 150%; mso-list: l2 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: 55.05pt; margin: .35pt 63.75pt .0001pt 55.0pt;"><!-- [if !supportLists]--><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: Symbol; mso-fareast-font-family: Symbol; mso-bidi-font-family: Symbol;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;">·<span style="font: 7.0pt 'Times New Roman';"> </span></span></span><!--[endif]--><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt; line-height: 150%;">Thereafter, the consent to operate granted to the industry under Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 was revoked vide Board’s letter no. 115 dated 11.01.2023 and Directions u/s 33-A of the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 were issued to the PSPCL authorities vide no. 120-123 dated 11.01.2023 for disconnecting the power supply of the industry. However, the PSPCL through its Memo No. 90 dated 20.01.2023 has refused to disconnect the connection, citing orders dated 10.01.2023 passed by Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission in the Petition no. 60 of 2022. </span></p>

The drain was also inspected from the premises of M/s Ravi Tanneries on the back side of the industry and it was observed that the outlets leading to CETP drains have been removed and the industry is now lifting its trade effluent to M/s JBR Technologies and the effluent from the vibration section is being recirculated. The seals of the electroplating section were found to be intact.</span></p>

The no. of days of violation before 08.12.2022 i.e. no. of days for which the effluent has been discharged into the CETP drain cannot be ascertained. Therefore it is suggested that a notional Environmental Compensation equivalent to 1 month of violation may be imposed upon the industry.</span></p>
