<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 2cm; text-align: justify;">Earlier, the Consent to Operate under Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 and Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 was granted to the industry for production of <span lang="EN-US">Steel Ingots/Billets (75,240 TPA) @ 250.8 T/day </span>which is valid upto 26.06.2023 subject to suitable conditions.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 2cm; text-align: justify;">Now, the industry has applied for renewal of Consent to Operate under Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 for production of Steel Ingots/Billets @ 250.8 MTD by using MS Scrap @ 272.98 TPD and Ferro Alloys @ 5.56 TPD as raw material. The documents submitted by the industry may kindly be perused.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 2cm; text-align: justify;">The industry has earlier proposed 2 no. Induction furnaces of capacity 12 TPH and 7 TPH by replacing existing furnace of capacity 8 TPH. However, the industry has installed only one furnace of 12 TPH till date and the other furnace will be installed later. The industry has submitted provisional Completion certificate of APCD with furnace of capacity 12 TPH from PSCST vide no. 525 dated 03/11/22.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 2cm; text-align: justify;">The industry was visited by undersigned on 3.3.2023 and it was observed as under: -</p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpFirst" style="text-indent: -18pt; text-align: justify;">1.<span style="font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"> </span>The industry was in operation during visit.</p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-indent: -18pt; text-align: justify;">2.<span style="font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"> </span>The induction furnace of capacity 12 TPH was in operation during visit.</p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-indent: -18pt; text-align: justify;">3.<span style="font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"> </span>The industry has installed side suction hood with Bag filter house as APCD along with adequate stack height. The air emission samples were collected by the Board and results (Particulate matter @ 23 mg/Nm<sup>3</sup>) are within the prescribed limits of the Board.</p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-indent: -18pt; text-align: justify;">4.<span style="font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"> </span>The domestic effluent is discharged onto land for plantation after septic tank.</p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpLast" style="text-indent: -18pt; text-align: justify;">5.<span style="font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"> </span>The public hearing was earlier held as per EIA Notification dated 2006. The Environmental Clearance for the said expansion has already been obtained by the industry.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 2cm; text-align: justify;">In view of above, if approved, Consent to Operate under Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 may be granted to the industry upto 31/03/2028 subject to suitable conditions and additional condition that the industry will obtain varied Consent to Operate under Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 before commissioning of furnace of capacity 7 TPH.</p> |
