<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: -.25in; mso-list: l4 level1 lfo1;"><!-- [if !supportLists]--><span style="font-family: Wingdings; mso-fareast-font-family: Wingdings; mso-bidi-font-family: Wingdings;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;">Ø<span style="font: 7.0pt 'Times New Roman';"> </span></span></span><!--[endif]-->The industry was also granted authorization under Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016 vide no. HWM/renew/MOG/2021/14037742 dated 12.03.2021 valid upto 11.03.2026. The industry was issued registration passbook under the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016 <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>on 12.03.2021 valid upto 11.03.2026 for re-processing / recycling of lead acid battery scrap / battery plates @ 4800 TPA under the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016.</p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: -.25in; mso-list: l4 level1 lfo1;"><!-- [if !supportLists]--><span style="font-family: Wingdings; mso-fareast-font-family: Wingdings; mso-bidi-font-family: Wingdings;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;">Ø<span style="font: 7.0pt 'Times New Roman';"> </span></span></span><!--[endif]-->To verify the SOPs prescribed by the Board for such type of industries and to verify the compliance of provisions of the Water Act, 1974 & the Air Act, 1981, said industry was visited by EE alongwith undersigned on 25.11.2022 and it was observed as under:</p>

However, raw material i.e old uses lead acid batteries were lying in it’s premises and workers were engaged in breaking of old batteries. The industry couldn’t produce any record with regard to it’s operations in past few months and failed to show any record maintained in the pass book.</p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="margin-left: .75in; mso-add-space: auto; text-align: justify; text-indent: -.25in; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo3;"><!-- [if !supportLists]--><span style="mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;">2.<span style="font: 7.0pt 'Times New Roman';"> </span></span></span><!--[endif]-->The industry has installed 01 Mandir furnace (02 sections) and 01 no. refining which are attached with common gravity dust settling chambers followed by twin cyclone, bag filter house and wet scrubber have been provided as APCD with these pots.</p>

Separate energy meter has also been provided with this APCD. However no record of energy meter was produced during visit.</p>

<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="margin-left: .75in; mso-add-space: auto; text-align: justify; text-indent: -.25in; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo3;"><!-- [if !supportLists]--><span style="mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;">5.<span style="font: 7.0pt 'Times New Roman';"> </span></span></span><!--[endif]-->The industry has provided separate washing section for washing of empty battery cases before their disposal in the market and has installed 02 no. collection tanks followed by neutralization tank as waste water treatment facility for treatment of waste water generated from washing section. During visit, no trade effluent was being generated and treatment facility was lying defunct.</p>

During visit, appox. 3 ton of HW under cat. 9.3 was lying stored in the room. The industry couldn’t produce record of generation, storage and lifting of HW.</p>

<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: .5in;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Accordingly, the industry was issued show cause notice with an opportunity of personal hearing before the Chief Environmental Engineer on 22.12.2022 for violations of the provisions of the Water Act, 1974 & the Air Act, 1981 and the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, wherein it was decided by the Competent Authority that <em>directions u/s 33-A of the Water Act, 1974 & u/s 31-A of the Air Act, 1981 be issued for closure of the industry and simultaneously, PSPCL authorities be asked to disconnect the electric connection of the industry with immediate effect</em></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: .5in;"> </p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: .5in;">Directions u/s 33-A of Water Act, 1974 & u/s 31-A of Air Act, 1981 have been issued to the industry vide letter no. 514 & 512 dated 06.02.2023 and PSPCL authorities were directed vide letter no. 516-17 dated 06.02.2023 to disconnect the electric supply of the industry, respectively.</p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-align: justify; text-indent: .5in;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></p>

The institute has deposited Rs. 25,200/- vide online Receipt No. 266747848 dated 21.12.2022 under the Water Act, 1974 and Rs. 25,200 /- vide online Receipt No.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>522413634 dated 21.12.2023 under the Air Act, 1981. The consent fee deposited by the industry is adequate up to 31.03.2026 after imposing penalty.</p>
