<p>The Punjab Vidhan Sabha Committee on River Ghaggar & Sutlej during their tour to district Sangrur on 24.02.2023 held a meeting that day at Moonak Rest House, District Sangrur.</p>
<p>During the meeting, villagers living near river Ghaggar informed that following distillery units discharge their effluent into river Ghaggar:-</p>
<p>1. M/s Patiala Distillers & Manufacturers, Village Main, Tehsil & District Patiala.</p>
<p>2. M/s Piccadily Sugar & Allied Industries Ltd. (Distillery Unit), Village Hamjheri, Tehsil Patran, District Patiala.</p>
<p>The Punjab Vidhan Sabha Committee directed that both the above distillery units be visited by officers of the Board and the matter may be investigated regarding their mode of disposal on surprise basis.</p>
<p>Accordingly, a team of following officers was constituted vide Board's letter no. 18 dated 09.03.2023 to visit the above said distillery units for the above said purpose:-</p>
<p>(i) Er. Paramjeet Singh, Senior Environmental Engineer .. ... Head</p>
<p>(ii) Er. Rohit Singla, Environmental Engineer</p>
<p>(iii) Er. Garima Garg, Assistant Environmental Engineer</p>
<p>(iv) Er. Gurkaran Singh, Assistant Environmental Engineer</p>
<p>(v) Sh. Gurpreet Singh, Assistant Scientific Officer</p>
<p>The site of the said industry namely M/s Picaddily Sugar & Allied Industries Ltd. (Distillery Unit), Village Hamjheri, Tehsil Patran, District Patiala was visited by the team on 13.03.2023 and Sh. Gopesh Gupta, Plant Head of the industry was contacted at site.</p>

<p>The findings and recommendations of the team are detailed in the report of the team attached by AEE.</p>
