<p style="text-align: justify;">The report / recommendations of AEE/EE, RO, may kindly be perused.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The hotel was given personal hearing before SEE, Zonal Office-2, Ludhiana on 27.01.2023 for show cause notice for violation of provision of Water Act, 1974 and Air Act, 1981. After hearing the SEE, Zonal Office-2, Ludhiana decided that:-</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]-->1. <!--[endif]-->The hotel shall apply for consent to operate under the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and under the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, within 15 days.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]-->2. <!--[endif]-->The hotel shall order for Bio-Composter within 15 days and shall ensure to install the Bio-Composter, within one month.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]-->3. <!--[endif]-->The hotel made clear that if, the hotel will found violating in future, action under the provision of Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 will be initiated as per the provision of environmental laws.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]-->4. <!--[endif]-->The hotel shall comply with the CPCB/PPCB guidelines for control of pollution and enforcement of environmental norms at individual establishment and the area/ cluster of restaurants/hotel/motels/banquet halls etc.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]-->5. <!--[endif]-->The hotel shall operate its oil & Grease trap and settling tanks properly and efficiently so as to achieve prescribed standards. In case, any up-gradation is required same shall be made, within 15 days positively.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]-->6. <!--[endif]-->Environmental Engineer, Regional Office-4, Ludhiana shall visit the hotel and process the consent applications of the hotel on merit, immediately after the submission by the project proponent.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">To verify the facts, the industry was visited by the officer of RO on 20.03.2023 and it was observed as under:-</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]-->1. <!--[endif]-->The hotel was in operation during the visit.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]-->2. <!--[endif]-->The hotel generates effluent from the kitchen and same is being discharged into sewer <a name="_Hlk130570377"></a>through septic tank followed by oil & grease trap. Further the hotel has also installed in house laundry section at the basement and the wastewater from the laundry section is also discharged into sewer after treatment through septic tank followed by oil & grease trap. The hotel has not installed ETP for treatment of waste water generated from laundry section. </p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]-->3. <!--[endif]-->The hotel has installed 03 no. D.G. Set provided with canopy and adequate stack height.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]-->4. <!--[endif]-->The hotel has not provided mechanical composter for managing solid waste. In this regard, the representative of hotel has submitted a letter in RO regarding giving advance payment of Rs 50000 to M/s Jyoti Enterprise for order of organic waste convertor. During visit, the representative informed that they will install bio-composter by the end of March, 2023. Further, the hotel has also provided compost pits.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]-->5. <!--[endif]-->The hotel is not complying with the compliance of guidelines for hotels/restaurants.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]-->6. <!--[endif]-->The industry has not installed bio composter till date and also having laundry section and not installed ETP.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In view of above, it is recommended that:-</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]-->1. <!--[endif]-->Present applications under Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act 1974 and Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 be refused.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><!-- [if !supportLists]-->2. <!--[endif]-->Further action u/s 33-A of the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act 1974 and u/s 31-A of the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 may be initiated against the hotel with an opportunity of personal hearing separately, please.</p>
