<p>The industry is large scale Red category Railway workshop. The unit was granted consent to operate under Air Act, 1981 and Water Act 1974 valid up to 31/03/2023.</p>
<p> Now, the unit has applied for renewal of consent to operate under Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 & Water Act, 1974.</p>
<p> The mechanical workshop was visited by the officer of this office on 14/06/2023 and observed as under:-</p>
<p>1. The furnace of the mechanical workshop was in operation. Air emission samples from the furnace installed by the workshop were collected by this office on 29/03/2023. As per analysis report received from Zonal lab, Jalandhar vide no. 1023-25 dated 10/04/2023, the analyzed parameters i.e. PM=125 mg/N3 is within prescribed limits of the Board.</p>
<p>2. ETP installed by the mechanical workshop was in operation. Effluent samples from the final outlet of the ETP as well as STP of the workshop were collected by this office on 29/03/2023. As per analysis report received from Zonal lab, Jalandhar vide no. 1091-93 dated 18/04/2023, the concentration of various parameters of ETP i.e. pH=8.7, TSS=12 mg/l, TDS=428 mg/l, O&G=5.2 mg/l, Iron=BDL, Chloride=49 mg/l & Sulphate=42 mg/l and concentration of various parameters of STP i.e. pH=8.8, COD=24 mg/l, BOD=06 mg/l, TSS=10 mg/l, TDS=456 mg/l & O&G=4.6 mg/l are within prescribed limits of the Board.</p>
<p>3. The authority has installed three modules / STPs for domestic effluent being generated from its office block, dispensary block and cycle stand block separately. All modules were in operation and treated domestic effluent was being discharged into sewer which further leads to STP of Municipal Corporation, Amritsar.</p>
<p>4. Mechanical workshop is complying with the conditions of consents granted earlier under Water Act, 1974 and Air Act, 1981.</p>
<p>Keeping in view of above, it is recommended that the consent to operate under Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 may be granted to the mechanical workshop up to 31/03/2024 with suitable terms and conditions.</p>
