Senior Environmental Engineer, Zonal Office<span dir="RTL" lang="PA">-</span>1, Ludhiana brought out that the industry was granted consent to operate under the Air Act, 1981 valid upto 30/09/2023 for manufacturing of Cotton/Polyester yarn @ 36.250 MTD & Cotton/Polyester yarn @ 7 MTD.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; text-align: justify; text-indent: 36.0pt; line-height: 115%; background: white;"><span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';">T</span><span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';">he industry has now applied for obtaining renewal of consent to operate under the Water Act, 1974.</span></p>

However, during visit only one spinning section was in operation. The representative submitted that industry is passing through huge financial crises and now industry is being run by bank.</span></p>

<p class="MsoBodyText" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; text-align: justify; tab-stops: 36.0pt;"><span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';"> In view of above, the industry was issued show cause notice for refusal of consent to operate under the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 </span><span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';">with opportunity of personal hearing before the Chief Environmental Engineer Ludhiana on 15.11.2023.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; text-align: justify; text-indent: 36.0pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';">Sh. Pardeep Kumar Patra, G.M. of the industry attended the hearing and submitted written reply which was taken on record. He submitted that the industry is engaged in </span><span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';">manufacturing of Cotton/ Polyester yarn & Cotton/ Polyester yarn and ambient air emission sample was collected by SIMA Lab on 31.01.2016 and will submit latest ambient air emission analysis report within a month. He further requested to grant consent of the Board.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; text-align: justify; text-indent: 36.0pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';"> After hearing the industry, officer of the Board and considering background of the case and material facts on the record, the Chief Environmental Engineer of the Board decided as under:-</span></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpFirst" style="mso-add-space: auto; text-align: justify; text-indent: -18.0pt; line-height: 115%; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo2; margin: 0cm 0cm .0001pt 35.45pt;"><!-- [if !supportLists]--><span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; mso-fareast-font-family: Arial;">1.<span style="font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-kerning: auto; font-optical-sizing: auto; font-feature-settings: normal; font-variation-settings: normal; font-variant-position: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"> </span></span><!--[endif]--><span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';">The consent to operate under the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 be granted to industry upto 31.03.2024 with special condition that the industry shall submit analysis report of </span><span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';">ambient air emissions, within one month.</span></p>
