<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify; text-justify: inter-ideograph; line-height: 150%;"><span style="font-family: 'Bookman Old Style',serif;">Earlier, the subject cited Brick Kiln was granted Consent to Operate under Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 & Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 vide online reference No. CTOA/Fresh/PKT/2020/12313543 & CTOW/Fresh/PKT/2020/12607299 dated 05/03/2020 & 29/05/2020, which were valid upto 30/09/2024 for the operation of Brick Kiln as per zig-zag technology. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify; text-justify: inter-ideograph; text-indent: 36.0pt; line-height: 150%;"><span style="font-family: 'Bookman Old Style',serif;">Further, it is intimated that the Brick Kiln was visited by the officers of this office on 15/09/2023 and found that the Brick Kiln is not complying with the code of practice prescribed by the Board for the Brick Kilns and the conditions of the consent to operate granted under Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 to it.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Further, the Brick Kiln was emitting intense black smoke from the chimney for significant time period resulting into the degradation of the Environment. The Brick Kiln was found using coal as fuel in the Brick Kiln but, the Brick Kiln was not using atleast 20% Paddy Straw Pellets as fuel with coal as per Board’s notifications no. 10/574/2022-STE1/443 dated 04/11/2022. Taking into consideration the above said violation, the consent to operate of the Brick Kiln was revoked vide letter no. 1973 dated 04/10/2023 and the report was sent to higher authority of the Board for taking further necessary action in this regard and same is under consideration.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify; text-justify: inter-ideograph; text-indent: 36.0pt; line-height: 150%;"><span style="font-family: 'Bookman Old Style',serif;">It is pertinent to mention here that personal hearing before the Senior Environmental Engineer at Amritsar on 07.12.2023, in reference to Show cause notice for violations of the provisions of the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, whereas it was decided as under:-</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify; text-justify: inter-ideograph; line-height: 150%;"><span style="font-family: 'Bookman Old Style',serif;"><span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>In the meantime, the subject cited Brick Kiln has applied for obtaining fresh consent to operate under Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 and Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 through OCMMS mode.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify; text-justify: inter-ideograph; line-height: 150%;"><span style="font-family: 'Bookman Old Style',serif;"><span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>The industry has already deposited Rs. 12,600 /- vide Ch. No. 000201 dated 18/05/2020 & Rs. 16,500/- vide R.No. 39/4448 dated 20/12/2016 and now deposited Rs. 7200/- Vide UTR No. 105743648 dated 12/01/2023 as consent to operate fee under Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 and Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, which is adequate upto 30/09/2028 including Rs. 500/- as Form downloading fee against total gross value of fixed assets worth Rs. 18,58,605/- as on 31/12/2023. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify; text-justify: inter-ideograph; text-indent: 36.0pt; line-height: 150%;"><span style="font-family: 'Bookman Old Style',serif;">The industry has submitted completion certificate issued by PSCST, Chandigarh vide letter no. PSCST/CC/485 dated 29/08/2019 intimating that the industry has constructed induced draft Brick Kiln with zig-zag firing as per the technology evolved by the Punjab State Council for Science & Technology. The Kiln owner will ensure the implementation of recommended operating practices as per the Feasibility Report (SPL-1189). </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify; text-justify: inter-ideograph; text-indent: 36.0pt; line-height: 150%;"><span style="font-family: 'Bookman Old Style',serif;"><span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>The industry was visited by officer of the Board on 15/01/2024 and observed as under:-</span></p>

<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpFirst" style="margin: 0cm; mso-add-space: auto; text-align: justify; text-justify: inter-ideograph; text-indent: 36.0pt; line-height: 150%;"><span style="font-family: 'Bookman Old Style',serif;">In view of the above, it is recommended that Consent to operate under Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 may be granted to the Brick Kiln for a period upto 30/09/2028 subject to the suitable conditions along with the special conditions as under:- </span></p>
