It is submitted that as per the categorization of the industry for building & construction, issued by the CPCB, the unit having built-up area less than 20,000 sq.mts and discharge less than 50 KLD, are also required to treat their effluent through soakpit, septic tank, STP etc. as per the prescribed guidelines and norms (Copy Enclosed).
In the said case, the unit is having discharge of 10 KLD and therefore has proposed septic tank for its treatment. Although, as per the calculation, the total effluent generated will be far less than the 10 KLD as there will be only floating population being a commercial complex. However, a condition has been imposed with the recommendations to install STP to achieve the prescribed standards for the discharge of treated effluent onto the plantation area along the roads and boundary wall and green park area, which is adequate.
