File Note: The industry was given personal hearing before the Senior Environmental Engineer, Zonal Office-l, Ludhiana on 30.01.2024 w.r.t. show cause notice for refusal of consent to operate under the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, wherein, it was decided as under: 1. The industry shall provide stack of adequate height with D.G set as per norms of the Board. 2. The industry shall store hazardous waste of all categories in scientific manner and get it lifted to authorized agencies regularly. 3. The industry shall comply with the conditions of the authorization granted under the Hazardous and other Waste (Management & Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016. 4. The Environmental Engineer, Regional Office, shall verify submission made by Industry and send further recommendations in the matter. To verify the compliance, undersigned has visited the industry on 05.02.2024 and observed as under: 1. The industry was in operation during visit and engaged in manufacturing of Sewing Machine body & Sewing Machine parts. 2. The industry has installed 1 no. electric paint booth with inbuilt water curtain as APCD. It has disposed off paint sludge @ 69.44 Kg to TSDF Nimbuan vide manifest no. 47562 dated 29.01.2024 and current storage of paint sludge is NIL. 3. The industry has installed 1 no. electric baking oven with hood & stack. 4. The industry has installed one DG set of capacity 62 KVA with canopy and adequate stack height. 5. There is no source of trade effluent generation and domestic effluent is being discharged into sewer. 6. The industry has stored 12-15 paint drums in its hazardous waste room. 7. The industry has assured to apply for obtaining authorization under Hazardous & Other Wastes (Management & Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016 as there is generation of hazardous waste of category 5.1, 21.1 and 33.1. In view of above, it is recommended that the industry may be granted 'Consent to Operate' under the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 upto 30.09.2027 with suitable conditions of the Board and special condition that the industry shall apply for obtaining authorization under Hazardous & Other Wastes (Management & Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016.
