Earlier, the industry was granted 'Consent to Operate' under Water Act, 1974 and Air Act, 1981 both valid upto 30.09.2025 for manufacturing of Steel Ingots @36TPD by using of PIG IRON/I C SCRAP @ 36 TPD and with induction furnace of capacity 4.5 TPH.
Now, the industry has applied varied consents under Water Act, 1974 and Air Act, 1981 by replacing induction furnace of capacity 4.5 TPH with induction furnace of capacity 7 TPH and production has been increased from 36 TPD to 80 TPD.
Sir, it is submited that the Punjab State Council for Science & Technology has issued Completion certificate vide letter no PSCST/TFD/82 dated 17.05.2023 as per which installed induction furnace is of 7 TPH capacity and it seems that production capacity will be 7 x 16 heat x 320 days = 35840 Ton/year which cover under Environmental Clearance.
If approved, show cause notice for refusal of consent to operate under the Water Act 1974 and Air Act, 1981 may be issued to the industry with hearing at ZO level due to following reasons, please:-
1. The industry has failed to submit analysis report of air emissions.
2. The industry has installed induction furnace of 7 TPH capacity and it seems that production capacity will be 7 x 16 heat x 320 days = 35840 Ton/year, which cover under Environmental Clearance and industry has failed to obtain Environmental Clearance as required under EIA Notification, 2006.
3. The industry has not submitted compliance of conditions of NOC granted to it under the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981.
