The industry was issued directions u/s 33-A of Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 for closure of the unit vide Zo letter No. 5685-86 dated 01.01.2024 and directions were issued to the PSPCL authorities vide ZO letter No. 5687-90 dated 01.01.2024 for disconnect the supply of electricity connection and this office was directed to seal the water polluting process/ DG set of the industry vide ZO letter No. 5689 dated 01.01.2024.
In compliance of the above, the industry was visited by Manvinder Singh Hundal, AEE (OS) on 01.02.2024 and observed that the industry was in operation during visit. During visit the electroplating process was in operation. During visit electric connection of the industry was intact. The PSPCL authorities was requested vide this office letter No. 597 dated 12.01.2024 to comply with the directions issued by the Board, but it has failed to submit any compliance in this regard so far. The water polluting process (Electroplating) of the industry has been sealed by visiting officer during visit.
The industry was again visited by officer of this office and observed that the electroplating process of the industry was found sealed and industry was not in operation. The electric connection of the industry was found intact. The industry has got lifted its trade effluent to CETP operator @ 1800 ltr on 14.12.2023 after the non-compliance period of the industry. The representative of the industry has closed all the outlets of electroplating process leading to sewer.
Keeping in view of above, it is recommended that:-
1. The consent to operate under Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act 1974 and Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act 1981 may be granted to the industry for short period for three months.
2. Directions issued for disconnection of the power supply of the industry may be reviewed please.
