Sir, the industry was granted consent to operate under the Water Act, 1974 valid upto 30/09/2027 and Air Act, 1981 valid upto 19/03/2024 for manufacturing of Iron Content @ 150-180 Kg/Day.
Now, the industry has applied for obtaining varied consent to operate under the Water Act, 1974 and Air Act, 1981 with requisite documents.
The industry was visited by RO on 01.03.2024 and it was reported as under:
1. The industry was in operation and engaged in recovery of Iron Content @ 150-180 Kg/Day by using raw material as Slag from Steel Plant @ 75 MT/Day.
2. Now, it has proposed to manufacture Slag Granuals/Slag Iron Content @ 150 MT/Day by using raw material as Slag from Steel Plant @ 150 MT/Day.
3. It has submitted an undertaking, which is reproduced as under: “Varied Consent (Air & Water) is applied due to increase in our Slag from Steel Plant. Earlier it was 75 MTD and now it shall be 150 MTD. The said 150 MTD of Slag shall be crushed at our VSSL Slag Unit Crusher and no additional machinery or resources is required. Earlier we were operating our Slag Unit for 6 hours per day and now we will operate Slag Unit for 12 hours per day. There is no increase in the power load, investment or manpower and only Slag crusher running duration is being increased.”
4. The industry engaged in the grinding of slag.
5. The industry has provided hood followed by cyclone and bags as APCD. The grinding process is done inside the closed shed. APCD dust is finally mixed with its crushed slag.
6. The industry has also provided curtain of metal sheet of approx. 3tf height on it its boundary wall facing the Metro road as an measure to control dust emissions escaping from its site and the industry has also provided crown variety of trees along the boundary to control the dust emissions. The height of the trees were approx. 5-6 ft.
7. There is no boiler/furnace etc.
8. It has submitted lease deed of industrial plot, which is valid upto 31.12.2027.
Consent fee is adequate upto 30/09/2027.
In view of the above, it is recommended that varied 'consent to operate' under the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 may be granted upto 30/09/2027 with suitable conditions as per policy of the Board, please.
