The industry is a large scale unit and was granted consent to operate under the Water Act, 1974 valid upto 31/03/2024 for the manufacturing of Steel Forging & Fence Fitting @ 22500 MT/year.
Now, the industry has applied for obtaining renewal of 'consent to operate' under the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 with requisite documents.
The industry was visited by RO on 29.02.2024 and it was observed as under:
1. The industry was in operation & is engaged in manufacturing of forged components.
2. The manufacturing process of the industry is as under: Raw Material storage and Inspection - Cutting- Forging - Machining – Marking – Serration – Phosphating – Painting (with brush) – Final Inspection, Packing & Dispatch.
3. The industry has installed ETP followed by RO system the components installed at site were collection tank – clarifier - storage tank – RO system.
4. The ETP as well as RO system installed by the industry was in operation during visit.
5. The industry is maintaining the record for water consumption/ETP installed by the industryThe domestic effluent is discharged into sewer.
6. It has installed 7 no. FO fired furnaces having stacks of adequate height.
7. As per analysis report of air emission, SPM is reported as 104 mg/Nm3 (Forging furnace no. 2) and 81 mg/Nm3 (Forging furnace no. 3) i.e. within the prescribed standards of the Board.
8. It has installed 2 no. shot blasting machines with separate bag house filter as APCD and adequate stack height.
9. It has also installed 1 no. FO fired heat treatment furnace.
The consent fee deposited by the industry is adequate upto 31/03/2029.
In view of the above, it is recommended that 'consent to operate' under the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 may be renewed upto 31/03/2029 with suitable conditions as per policy of the Board, please.
