Sir, this is a case of unit found violating in Ludhiana gas leak incident. Accordingly, directions were issued for closure/sealing, environmental compensation of Rs 1.5 lacs imposed on the industry and prosecution under the relevant provisions of law be also initiated.
The industry was visited on 11.03.2024 and found that the industry was lying disconnected. The wet polluting area and machinery was lying sealed . The Criminal prosecution has been filed against the industry in the court of CJM, Ludhiana. The industry has submitted Rs. 50000/- as first instalment of EC of Rs. 1.50 Lacs imposed on the industry. The industry has submitted written request that the rest of the amount of EC may be taken in 3 equal instalments as it is not in a financial position to deposit full amount of EC due to non-operation of unit since last one year.
In view of above, it is recommended that consent to operate under the Water Act, 1974 and Air Act, 1981 may be granted to the industry for six months and electric connection of the industry be restored temporarily for 6 months with special condition that the industry shall deposit environmental compensation of remaining amount of Rs 1 lacs in 3 equal instalments within 3 months.
