• The hospital is small scale, 150 bedded hospital.
• The hospital was granted consent to operate under Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and under Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 30.09.2025 for 100 beds.
• Now, the hospital has applied for varied consent to operate under Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act 1974 and Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act 1981 through OCMMS of the Board for 150 beds and detail of the same is as under:-
1. The hospital has already deposited Rs. 40,000/- vide UTR. No. 496047194 dated 14.03.2024 under Water Act, 1974 and Rs. 40,000/- vide UTR. No. 274939169 dated 14.03.2024 under Air Act, 1981, which is adequate upto 30.09.2029.
2. The hospital has submitted MOU signed with M/s Meridian Milieu, Ltd, Bir Pind, Jalandhar for treatment and disposal of its Bio-Medical Waste valid upto 26.02.2027 for 150 beds.
3. The hospital has submitted annual report, bed capacity certificate, lifting slips, proprietorship certificate and approved building plan with the application.
• The hospital was visited by Er. Manvinder Singh Hundal, AEE (OS) of this office on 14.03.2024 and it was observed that:-
1. The hospital was in operation during visit.
2. The hospital having bed capacity of 150 as per certificate submitted by the hospital.
3. The hospital has installed two D.G sets of capacity 400 KVA and 200 KVA with canopies.
4. Liquid waste is being treated with ETP alongwith other domestic effluent and discharged into MC sewer.
5. During visit, effluent samples of ETP could not be collated as quantity of generation of effluent was less quantity.
6. The hospital has provided color coded bins at various locations inside its premises.
7. The hospital has provided needle shredders at various locations which were in operational condition.
8. The hospital has maintained record of bio medical waste generated & lifted to CBWTF. From the record it is clear that the hospital is regularly getting its Bio-Medical waste lifted to CBWTF.
9. The hospital is complying with the provisions of Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and under Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981
Keeping in view of above, it is recommended that: -
1. The consent to operate Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 may be granted upto 30.09.2029 with usual terms and conditions.
2. The hospital will comply with discharged standards prescribed in the Bio- medical Rules amended in 2018.
3. The HCF shall obtain other statutory approvals required from other departments, if any.
4. The hospital will submit report of effluent sample analyzed from Board’s Lab within 02 months.
