The industry is small scale red category unit and was earlier granted consent to operate under Water Act, 1974 vide no. CTOW/Fresh/LDH4/2020/14273998 dated 07/12/2020 valid upto 30/06/2025 and under Air Act, 1981 vide no. CTOA/Fresh/LDH4/2020/14274272 dated 07/12/2020 valid upto 30/06/2025……………………
A show cause notice for revocation of consent to operate under the provisions of Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 was issued to the industry with an opportunity of personal hearing before Senior Environmental Engineer, Zonal Office-2, Ludhiana on 20.02.2024. 1. The industry shall apply for varied consent to operate under the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 within, 01 month. 2. Environmental Engineer, Regional Office-4, Ludhiana shall visit the industry to specifically verifying the treatment and disposal of the industry for domestic effluent, also, verify the contentions made by the industry during hearing and submit the report along-with recommendations.
Now, the industry has applied for obtaining varied consent to operate under Water Act, 1974 and Air Act, 1981………………
The industry has deposited consent fee, which is adequate up to 30.06.2034………………………
Now, the industry was visited by the AEE of RO on 19.03.2024 and it was observed that: -
1. The industry was in operation during the visit and is engaged in manufacturing of Door Fittings using process of Nickel Plating, paint process and aluminium die-casting.
2. The industry has installed one no. aluminium pressure die casting furnace which is electric fired with water scrubber as APCD and adequate stack height and sapling arrangement. During visit the process of die casting was not in operation as this process is used seldomly by the industry.
3. The industry has now added paint booth with water curtain as APCD in the premises.
4. The effluent generated is collected in underground 2 no storage tanks of total capacity about 8 KL. Around 2.5 Kl was stored in storage tank.
5. The industry has provided water meter on the pipeline leading to the wet processing area and the reading of the same was 661.86 KL during the visit. The industry has consumed (661.86-633.43) =28.43 KL since last visit i.e. on 24.01.2024. The industry has got lifted 25 KL of effluent in the said period. The quantity of effluent stored in storage tank during last visit i.e. on 24.01.2024 was 2.5 KL. As such, the effluent generated in the process is almost similar to the effluent lifted to CETP operator.
6. The industry has made MOU with CETP operator for lifting of trade effluent@ 15000 ltr/month.
7. The industry is maintaining the record of water consumed viz-a-viz effluent lifted.
8. The industry has installed 2 no. DG set @ 65 KVA and 125 KVA with canopy and adequate stack.
9. The domestic effluent is being discharged onto land for plantation after septic tank.
10. As the industry has complying with the provisions of Air Act, 1981, Water Act, 1974 and decision of personal hearing dated 20.02.2024.
As proposed by Regional Office, may, if approved:
1. Varied consent to operate under the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 may be granted to the industry upto 30.06.2029 with suitable conditions.
