File Note: • The industry is a large scale orange category unit. • The industry was granted consent to operate under Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 valid upto 31.03.2024 for manufacturing of Tomato Ketchup, Jam, Sauces, Mayonnaise, Syrup and Salted Dressing @ 48T/day by using Tomato Paste, Ingredients, Sugar, Liquid Glucose @10T/day, Pet Bottles @8000Numbers/Day, Pouch @18000Numbers/Day and Saches @1000000 Numbers/Day as raw material under large scale red category. • Earlier, the industry was visited by officer of this office on 19.06.2023 and observed that the industry has installed ETP and the same was in operation. The effluent samples were collected during visit and was sent to PBTI Lab, Mohali. The analysis results are (pH-8.72, COD-20, BOD-4, TSS-64.5, TDS-656, O&G- BDL and MLSS-5141 and pH and TSS were found beyond the prescribed limits of the Board. The industry has installed one wood based boiler of capacity 02 TPH with multi cyclone separator followed by wet scrubber as APCD and the same was in operation but sludge observed in the re-circulation tank, Further, the blow down from the boiler is being discharged into sewer. • Thereafter, the industry was given personal hearing before the Chief Environmental Engineer, Jalandhar on 05.10.2023 u/s 33-A of Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act 1974 and 31-A of Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act 1981, wherein it was decided as under:- 1. The industry shall bank guarantee of Rs. 50,000/- as an assurance to operate its ETP regularly & efficiently, so as to achieve the prescribed standards of the Board. 2. Environmental Engineer, Regional Office-1, Jalandhar shall visit the industry verify content made by the industry, re-collect effluent samples and submit the report within 1 month. Accordingly, to verify the status, the industry was visited by officers of this office on 20.11.2023 and observed that the industry was in operation. The effluent sample of the industry was collected from final outlet of ETP and sent to Board Lab for analysis. MLVSS (mg/l) 2520 - As per analysis report, all the parameters are found within the prescribed limits of the Board. • Now, the industry has applied for varied of consent to operate under Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act 1974 and under Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 through OCMMS of the Board. for manufacturing of Tamato Ketchup, Jam, Sauces, Mayonaise, Syrup and Salted Dressing @ 48T/day by using Tamato Paste, Ingredients, Sugar, Liquid Glucose @10T/day, Pet Bottles @8000Numbers/Day, Pouch @18000Numbers/Day and Saches @1000000Numbers/Day as raw material under orange category large scale and detail of the same is as under:- 1. The industry has deposited Rs. 3,18,000/- vide R.N. 552781263 dated 15.03.2024 under Water Act, 1974 and Rs. 3,54,500/- (Rs. 3,18,000/- under Air Act, 1981, Rs. 36000/- as NOC fee, Rs. 500/- form fee) vide R.N. 354696196 dated 15.03.2024 against the fixed assets of Rs. 3002.79 lacs, which are adequate upto 31.03.2031. The fixed assets of the industry has now been increased from Rs. 1921.67 lacs to Rs. 3002.79 lacs. The industry has submitted detail of its increased in assets and as per which the industry has not installed any polluting machinery in its premises and has deposited NOC regularization fee. The industry falls in approved Focal Point, Jalandhar. 2. The industry has already submitted a bank guarantee of Rs. 50,000/-valid upto 20.11.2024 as an assurance to operate its ETP regularly & efficiently, so as to achieve the prescribed standards of the Board. • The industry was already visited by officers of this office on 19.03.2024 and observed that:- 1. The industry was in operation during visit and is engaged in manufacturing of Tomato Ketchup, Jam, Sauces, Mayonnaise, Syrup and Salted Dressing. 2. The industry has installed one thermax boiler with multi cyclone separator as APCD and adequate stack height and same was in operation and wood was using as fuel. The air emission sample of the industry was already collected on 19.06.2023 and as per analysis report, the results of particulate matter is found @ 362 mg/nm3, which is found within the prescribed limits of the Board. 3. The industry has installed 2 no. D.G sets of capacity 500 KVA and 110 KVA with canopy and adequate stack height. 4. The industry has installed ETP for the treatment of effluent generated by the industry and the same was in operation during visit. Treated effluent was discharging into PSIEC sewer. 5. The industry is complying with the provisions of Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and under Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981. The industry is large scale orange category and the competency of case lies with Chief Environmental Engineer, Jalandhar. Recommendation: - in view of above, it is recommended that varied of consent to operate under Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and under Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 may be granted upto 30.09.2029 with usual terms and conditions as per policy of the Board.
