It is informed that:-
1. Phenolic wastewater is generated as bleed water from a wet scrubber used for cooling and cleaning of producer gas generated from its coal gasifier plant. The Phenolic wastewater is categorized as hazardous waste as per S.No 1.4 of schedule-I of HOWM Rules, 2016. The SoPs for utilisation of the phenolic waste water is applicable only for its utilization in the after Burning Chamber of DRI kiln of Sponge Iron Industry for quenching and to regulate the temperature of hot flue gas. However, the industry is not doing the same and it is disposing off the same in its incinerator through burning. Thus, the SoPs may not be applicable to it.
2. The industry has been informed about the date of the personal hearing.
3. The industry in reply to the SCN issued to it has submitted a letter indicating that it has now provided the sampling arrangement along with pothole with its incinerator. The request letter of the industry is attached and same may can be perused.
