The institute is a Large scale orange category unit and was granted consent to operate under Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 dated 14.09.2023, which was expired on 31.03.2024………………………..
Now, the institute has applied for renewal of consent to operate under Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974………………………………..
The institute had already deposited consent fee, which is adequate upto 31.05.2026……………..
The institute was visited by AEE of RO on 29.03.2024, during the visit following observations were observed:-
1. The institute was in operation.
2. The institute has installed STP for treatment of domestic waste water generated from the premises of the institute, which was in operation during visit. The STP installed by the institute consisting of collection tank cum equalization tank, chemical dosing tank, reaction channels, primary tube settler, bio-logical tanks, secondary tube settler, sand filter, carbon filters followed by UV plant and RO plant. The institute has provided separate energy meter and EMF with STP and is maintaining the record regarding operation of STP.
3. The institution has 03 acres land under the lawns and along road stretch / boundary wall and combined tree plantation in this area is equivalent 1 acre fully grown plantation as per Karnal technology. Domestic waste water generation is about 250KLD at full occupancy and thus minimum 5 acres of land is required under plantation as per karnal technology. This plantation area can handle 50-70 KLD of water depending upon summer/winter season (3-5 Liter per square meter depending upon the seasonal requirement).
4. For rest of the (250-50) = 200 KLD effluent, the institute has provided plantation in an area of 04 acres adjacent to its existing premises.
5. The institute had earlier provided total 14 treated water over head tanks of combined capacity 23.5 KLD (09 tanks @ 2000 liter, 01 tank @ 1500 liter and 04 tanks @ 1000liter) for reuse of treated water for flushing etc.
6. Thus, the institute is complying with the provisions of the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and the Air (Prevention &Control of Pollution) Act, 1981.
As proposed by Regional Office, if approved:
1. ‘Consent to Operate’ under the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 may be granted to the institute for a period upto 31.05.2026 subject to suitable conditions..............................
