The University was granted ‘Consent to Operate’ under the Water Act, 1974 & under the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 dated 11.01.2023 each, both valid upto 31.03.2024 subject to special condition that the project proponent may also develop the vermicomposting/ composting to manage the biodegradable solid waste……………………….. Now, the University has applied for renewal of ‘Consent to Operate’ under the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 through OCMMS…………………….. The University has deposited consent fee, which is adequate for period upto 31.03.2025 under both acts……………………. The University was visited by AEE of RO on 03.05.2024 and it was observed as under: 1. The University was in operation. 2. The University has maximum strength of 3000 students and present strength is about 2400. The University has 2 student hostels and quarters for faculty. At present about 1050 International students and 100 staff members are residing in the same. 3. The University has installed STP of capacity 300 KLD for the treatment of domestic effluent generated from the premises. The STP consists of collection tank, screen chamber, aeration tank, clarifier, carbon filters & sand filters, pre-filtration & final outlet. All mechanical components of STP were in line and in operational condition. 4. The University has developed plantation in two parks of 2 acres each and one playground of 7 acres and agriculture farm of around 5 acres for the disposal of the treated effluent. The University has provided plantation along internal roads and along boundary wall also. Plantation provided by the University is adequate for disposal of treated trade effluent. Condition of plantation is good. 5. The University has developed 03 pits of size 8’6” X 4’9” X 3’ each to manage the biodegradable solid waste. 6. The University has made agreement with Sh. Binderpal Singh owner of pig farm village Gureh, Near Chaunkiman, Jagraon regarding lifting of organic waste like raw vegetables, fruit pulp. 7. The University has installed 02 DG sets of capacity 1000 KVA & 500 KVA equipped with canopies & stack of adequate heights. The University is complying with the provisions of the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act & the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981. As proposed by Regional Office, if approved that: 1. ‘Consent to Operate’ under Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act 1974 may be granted for period upto 31.03.2025 subject to suitable conditions along with special condition that: 1. The university shall install Bio-composter for composting of organic waste within 06 months and the university shall get its effluent samples analyzed from Board’s lab within 03 months.
