It is submitted that the earlier, the industry had applied for varied consent to operate under the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 through Invest Punjab Business First Portal and same were processed online. However, Environmental Engineer (PBIP) has raised concern and objection that the unit is required to apply for renewal of consent under the Air Act, 1981 as per Section 21 (7) of the Air Act, 1981 and fresh consent under the Water Act, 1974 instead of varied applications. Accordingly, the applications were re-applied in the manner as recommended by EE, PBIP.
