File Note: The industry was granted consent to operate under the Air Act, 1981 vide no. CTOA/Varied/MOG/2019/10087331 dated 13.06.2019 for operation of brick kiln with induced draught zig-zag technology to produce brick & tiles @ 30,000 numbers/day, with validity up to 30.09.2024, subject to conditions mentioned therein. Thereafter, the industry has auto-renewed its Consent to operate under Air Act, 1981 on 18.05.2024, which is valid upto 18.05.2031. Now, the industry has applied for obtaining fresh consent to operate under the Water Act, 1974 through OCMMS along with relevant documents with same capacity, detail of case as under:  The kiln has submitted CA certificate dated 09.03.2024, showing gross fixed assets of Rs. 11.41 lacs as on 29.02.2024.  The kiln has deposited consents fee of Rs. 28800/- vide UTR No. SBIN224135162368 dated 14.05.2024 under the Water Act, 1974, which is adequate upto 30.09.2030. The brick kiln was visited by AEE on 05.06.2024 and it was observed as under: • The brick kiln was in operation during visit. • The brick kiln has already upgraded its kiln to induced draft zig-zag technology. A VFD fan has been provided with the chimney and the length of the brick kiln (central island) was found less than 245 feet. • The brick kiln has provided adequate sampling facilities with kiln stack to facilitate emission sampling with ladder. • The kiln has stabilized the periphery road / movement area with brick bats. • The brick kiln has provided septic tank for treatment of domestic effluent generated from the premises with provision to discharge onto land for plantation developed along boundary. • The kiln has stored paddy straw pellets for using as fuel in its premises. The brick kiln was complied with the code of practice prescribed by the Govt./Board for such type of units as well as with the provisions of the Water Act, 1974 and Air Act, 1981. Keeping in view of above, it is recommended that fresh consent to operate under the Water Act, 1974 may be granted for a period upto 30.09.2030 for production of bricks & tiles @ 30,000 nos./day, subject to the suitable conditions along with following additional conditions. 1. The brick kiln shall use 20 % paddy straw pallets as fuel in compliance to the notification dated 04.11.2022 issued by Department of Science Technology and Environment, Punjab. 2. The industry shall discharge its domestic effluent onto land for plantation after treatment in the septic tank. 3. The industry shall comply with code of practice prescribed for operation of brick kilns and shall be liable to achieve the prescribed standard notified by CPCB/PPCB from time to time.
