Sir, the industry was show cause notice for refusal of consent to operate under the Air Act, 1981with hearing before the Senior Environmental Engineer of the Board on 15.05.2024, wherein it was decided that:- 1. The industry shall not operate auto black process in the premises. 2. The industry shall operate pollution control device of galvanizing process, regularly & efficiently so as to achieve the prescribed air emissions discharge standards and shall maintain record regarding its operation. 3. The industry shall submit air emission analysis report from Board's lab, within 07 days. 4. The Environmental Engineer, Regional Office shall verify the compliance made by the industry, collect air emissions sample and submit further recommendations in the matter. 5. It was made clear to the industry that in case the industry is not complying with the decisions of hearing, the consent to operate will be refused without any further notice / opportunity of personal hearing.
In compliance to the decisions of the hearing, RO reported that the industry was visited on 07.06.2024 to collect air emisison sample. The air emission sample could not be collected as the platform arrangments was not proper. Further, the representative infomred that due to recent bad wheather condition in the area, the elecrical lines were disturbed and the stack of the furnace was also dismantled due to which the platform breaked. As far as the auto blacking section is concerned the same was lying completely closed as observed during visit.
In view of the above, it is recommended that consent to operate under the Air Act, 1981 may be granted to industry for short term i.e. 03 months with special condition that the industry shall make proper arrangements for collection of air emission samples and get the air emission sample analyzed from Board’s Lab during this period.
