The industry is a small scale green category unit.
Earlier history
The industry was given personal hearing before the Senior Environmental Engineer, Zonal Office-I, Ludhiana on 11.06.2024 w.r.t. show cause notice for violation of provisions of the Water Act, 1974 and Air Act, 1981, wherein, it was decided as under:
1. The industry shall apply for consent to operate under the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, within 07 days.
2. The Environmental Engineer, Regional Office shall verify submissions made by the industry and process consent applications on merits.
Now, it has applied for obtaining fresh consent to operate under the Water Act, 1974 and Air Act, 1981 with requisite documents. The industry has deposited consent fee against the un-depreciated fixed assets of Rs. 163.85 Lacs as 31/03/2024 as per CA Certificate dated 03/06/2024, which is adequate upto 30/06/2025 under Water Act, 1974 and Air Act, 1981, as per Board's Office Order dated 29/10/2018 after deducting penalty charges and NOC Regularization fee.
The industry was visited by the undersigned on 27.06.2024 and it was observed as under:
1. The industry was in operation.
2. The industry is engaged in manufacturing of Tractor Parts @ 2500 Numbers/day by using raw material as MS Bar and MS Sheet @ 2 MTD.
3. The manufacturing process of the industry is as Raw material – Blanking – Punching – Bending - Zinc plating (from outsource) – Ready – Packing - Dispatch.
4. The has installed Lathe machines, Hobbing machines, Straightening machines, 3 no. CNC machines, Drill Machines, Grinders and Threading machines as non-polluting machinery.
5. There is no generation of trade effluent and domestic effluent is being discharged into sewer.
6. The industry has installed 2 no. DG sets of capacities 50 & 75 KVA, equipped with canopies and stack of adequate heights.
7. It has submitted building plans approved by Er. Sukhjinder Singh, Competent person under Factories Act, 1948.
The site of the industry falls in the Industrial focal point as per Master Plan of Ludhiana.
In the subject cited case, the industry has mentioned ground water extraction @ 1 KLD. Considering 25 working days per month, ground water extraction will be 25 KL/month, which is less than 300 KL/month.
It is therefore recommended that 'Consent to operate' under the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 may be granted upto 30/06/2025 with suitable conditions as per policy of the Board.
