The matter was discussed with worthy CEE (P) in presence of your good-self on 25/7/2024. It is submitted that Hon'ble NGT has constituted a joint committee to visit the site of the project and submit compliance/ factual report. Thereafter, the joint committee has submitted its report which was considered by Hon'ble NGT in its order dated 20/10/2023. The following action were also taken by the Competent Authority during the hearing given to the project proponent on 13/3/2024 for violating the Environmental norms:
1) To impose Environmental Compensation upon the project proponent with reference to violations made by the project proponent as well as with reference to operating outlet without valid consent of the Board.
2) To initiate the process to launch prosecution against the project proponent as development of project continued even the expiry of environmental clearance in the year 2013.
Regional Office, SAS Nagar has submitted that the project proponent is now complying with the Environmental norms and recommended for grant of the consents.
In view of the recommendations of EE, RO, SAS Nagar, consent to operate under the Water Act, 1974 and the Air Act, 1981 may be granted to the project proponent upto 31.12.2024 subject to suitable conditions as per policy of the Board and special conditions as proposed by Regional Office, please.
Also, E.E, Regional Office, SAS Nagar may be asked to expedite the action w.r.t imposition of Environmental Compensation/ launching prosecution as per the decisions of the hearing held on 13/3/2024.
