File Note: Earlier history The industry was visited by officer of the Board on 07.06.2023 & it was observed as under: 1. The industry is engaged in process of paint and powder coating including acid pickling to wire rod with the help of sulphuric acid which is used for hanging the product for baking in diesel fired oven. 2. The industry has installed 02 powder coating booth & with inbuilt cyclone and having inadequate stack height, 01 paint booth with water curtain but having inadequate stack height, 01 diesel fired oven with inadequate stack height and 01 wood fired furnace with inadequate stack 3. The industry has neither installed any effluent treatment plant nor made any agreement with CETP operator for lifting its effluent generated from acid pickling process. 4. The industry has neither installed any water meter on its fresh supply of water leading to the processes nor maintain any record regarding fresh water consumption & its disposal. Accordingly, Competent Authority of the board vide board’s letter no. 5291-92 dated 21.09.2023 had issued directions u/s 33-A of Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and u/s 31-A of Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 for closer of the unit and PSPCL authorities to disconnect the electric supply of the unit. Thereafter, the site of industry was visited by the officer of the Board on 31.10.2023 and it was observed as under: 1. The industry was not in operation during visit due to disconnection of electric supply. 2. The industry has completely removed the wet polluting section i.e. acid dip section. 3. The industry has installed 2 no. powder coating booth with cyclone as APCD, one paint booth with water curtain as APCD, one diesel fired oven with adequate stack height. Currently, the industry is operating only orange category unit having 1 no. paint booth and 2 no. powder coating booths and it is complying with the provisions of Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981. It is therefore recommended that 'Consent to Operate' under Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 & Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 may be granted for short period of six months as per policy of the Board and directions u/s 33-A of Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and u/s 31-A of Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 may be issued to PSPCL authorities to restore the electric supply temporarily for further six months.
