It is submitted that the industry was earlier granted "Consent to Operate under Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 vide no. CTOW/Renewal/LDH1/2023/21238154 dated 09.03.2023 valid up to 30.09.2027 and vide no. CTOA/Renewal/LDH1/2023/20961640 dated 09.03.2023 dated 09.03.2023 valid up to 30.09.2027 for production of Steel ingots @ 81 TPD by using M.S scrap @ 85 TPD as raw material. The granted consent allowed usage of cooling water @ 20KLD and domestic water @ 7 KLD. The Grant consent was valid for Induction furnace of 8 TPH Capacity.Now the Industry has applied for fresh Consent under both acts under the new name i.e. RENNY STRIPS LTD. (Furnace Division).The industry was visited officer of this office on 26.11.2025 and it was observed as under:- 1. The industry was in operation during the visit and engaged in production of Steel ingots. 2. The industry has installed 1 induction furnace of capacity 8 Ton/Heat was in operation. The Completion certificate issued by PSCST, Chandigarh regarding the same is already on record as unit has already been granted Consents under both acts. 3. The last air sampling of the unit was carries out by the Board on 02.07.2024 and as per results the particulate matter was found to be with in prescribed standard (146 mg/m3 vs. 150 mg/m3). 4. There is no source of generation of trade effluent. The Industry uses 20 KL as cooling water and 7 KLD as domestic wastewater. 5. The industry has submitted CLU letter vide no. PBIP/CAPA(HUD)/2017/873 dated 04.09.2017 for Renny Strips Pvt. Ltd. (Furnace Division), Village Mangarh (H.B.No. 223), District- Ludhiana on an area of 0.725 acres. 6. The Industry is covered under category 3 (a) sub part (c) category of EIA notification dated 14.09.2006 as amended from time to time. As per MoEF&CC notification S.O 2215 (E) dated 07.06.2024, for processes involving melting of non-toxic metals using gas fuel or electricity doesn’t require EC till 60,000 TPA capacity. Therefore, unit doesn’t need EC. 7. As per OM No. 450 dated 08.10.2025 regarding ‘adoption and installation of secondary emission fume extraction system by the induction furnace units in the state of Punjab’ states that The existing induction furnace units shall adopt any of the following available technologies for the control of secondary emissions: a) Dog house emission containment system b) Canopy Hood Containment System c) Roof top Containment System. 8. Further, the industry (induction furnace units) has to obtain a design for retro fitting in its existing unit from Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, Chandigarh for the adoption of any one of the technologies. And, all the induction Furnace Units shall install the secondary containment system on or before 30.09.2026...........................................................................Certain clarifications were raised to RO (may peruse noting)..........and the RO has submitted the reply of the observations......... air sampling results pending.......Unit has not submitted any adequacy certificate from PSCST for the APCD for induction furnace .......... Building plan attached ............. The matter wrt violations under Air Act 1981 is being taken separately in air cto application ................
For Water CTO ,it is recommended that Consent to Operate under Water Act (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 may be granted to the industry up to 30.09.2026 please.
