It is pertinent to mention here the brief background of the Leather Complex matter, wherein, in compliance with the orders of the Hon’ble Punjab & Haryana High Court, Chandigarh, the Competent Authority of the Board had decided to order the closure of the industries (61 tannery units, including this unit) under Section 33-A of the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, vide Zonal Office Letter No. 6068 dated 31.10.2019, which were operating in the Leather Complex, Jalandhar. Accordingly, PSPCL authorities were directed to disconnect the electric connections of the said units, and the Consent to Operate granted under the Water Act, 1974, was revoked on 31.10.2019.
Thereafter, the electric connections of the member units of the Leather Complex were subsequently restored up to 31.03.2026, i.e., the cut-off date prescribed for completion of CETP upgradation activities. The CTOs have also been granted accordingly up to the same date.Thus the application was sent to the competent auhtority for concurrence of directions regarding not to disconnect electric connection of industry upto 31.03.2026.The Competent Authority has sought a discussion on the matter for which time has been requested through the Zonal Office email dated 26.12.2025 and. PA to the Chairperson has been apprised accordingly, and the matter is presently under consideration.This is for kind information plz. ( pending for discussion with Hon'ble chairperson) |
