It is submitted that M/s Ajaib Singh Brick Kiln, Village Jandoli, Tehsil Garhshankar, District Hoshiarpur had earlier obtained Consent to Operate under the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 vide CTOA No. R14HSPCTOA1173095, issued on 07.05.2014 and valid up to 31.03.2019.
It is observed that the unit has not obtained any Consent to Operate under the Air Act after expiry of the above consent.
Now, the unit has applied for Consent to Operate under the Air Act, 1981 through OCMMS and has deposited consent fee of ₹26,100/- vide Receipt No. 402083690 dated 05.01.2026.
It is pertinent to mention that directions under Section 31-A of the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 were issued against the brick kiln, and the matter was conveyed to the District Food & Civil Supplies Authority (DFSC), Hoshiarpur vide office letter No. 2473.
Now, in reference to the present application, the brick kiln was visited by the undersigned, and Sh. Ravijot Singh, Manager of the brick kiln, was contacted during the visit. The following observations were made:
1. The brick kiln was found operational at the time of visit.
2. The brick kiln has adopted Induced Draft Zig-Zag firing technology and has submitted plan and section drawings vide Drawing No. TM-19/554.
3. The approach road and area within the premises are not stabilized, leading to fugitive dust emissions during vehicular movement and material handling.
4. It was observed that agricultural residue as prescribed by the Board is not being used as fuel along with crushed coal and display board as per norms was also not installed.
5. The permanent platform and ladder arrangement for safe access to the stack monitoring point is inadequate and unsafe for sampling and monitoring purposes.
6. The green belt comprising evergreen tree species has not been developed along the boundary of the brick kiln in three rows, as prescribed by the Board.
In view of the above, it is recommended that a Show Cause Notice for refusal of Consent to Operate under the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 may be issued to the unit.
