Sir, kindly peruse the agenda note of AEE. In addition to the note of AEE, it is submitted that the industry had earlier installed an existing Induction furnace of capacity 7 TPH, which was in operation. Now, the industry has installed the induction furnace of capacity 14 TPH, which shall be operated after obtaining valid consent to operate of the Board. Upon commissioning of induction furnace of capacity 14 TPH, the existing 7 TPH furnace will be non-operational. The APCD presently installed with the existing furnace shall be kept as spare and engaged for use in controlling secondary emissions and the same shall be made operational on or before 30.09.2026.
With respect to the control of secondary emissions, as per Baord's office order dated 08.10.2025, the existing induction furnace units shall adopt any of the following available technologies for the control of secondary emissions:
i) Dog house emission containment system.
ii) Canopy Hood Containment System
iii) Roof top Containment System
In compliance, the industry has proposed to install Canopy Hood Containment System within the existing industrial shed. Further, the industry has engaged M/s Sohan Pal Mechanical Works, Mandi Gobindgarh, for installation of the canopy hood as per the design to be submitted by PSCST for control of secondary emissions. An advance payment of Rs. 2.00 lakhs, amounting to approximately 15% of the total estimated cost of the canopy hood, has already been made. The industry has also approached PSCST, Chandigarh for vetting the proposal made by the industry w.r.t. secondary emission system.
In view of the facts mentioned above and in the agenda note of AEE, it is recommended that the industry may be granted varied consents to operate under the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 for manufacturing of M.S Ingots & Runner & Risers or Concast Billets (Caster), Rolled Products (Round Square girder, channel, flat etc.) @ 170 T/day upto 30.09.2026 with suitable conditions and special conditions as mentioned in the note of AEE, please. |
