• It is intimated that the industry is an existing small scale brick kiln established in 1967 (as per application filed by applicant) i.e before the notification of sitting guidelines framed by Board for brick kilns.
• The BKO has been granted consent to operate under Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, which is valid upto 29.06.2029.
• Now, the industry has applied for fresh consent to operate under Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 through OCMMS of the Board.
• The BKO has submitted the completion certificate of the BKO issued by PSCST Chandigarh vide letter no. cc/689 dated 22.10.2019 and as per completion certificate, the PSCST Chandigarh has mentioned that the BKO has converted its BKO as per design with Zig Zag technology.
• The BKO was visited by Er. Jaspreet Kaur AEE (OS) of this office on 28.01.2026 and observed that the BKO was not in operation due to off season.
• The representative informed that they are using paddy straw pellets as a fuel but currently due to off season same was not available on the site.
• There is no source of trade effluent generation and only generation of domestic effluent and has made arrangement for the disposal of domestic effluent onto land for plantation after septic tank.
• The industry falls in orange category and the competency to decide such case lies with Environmental Engineer.
If approved, the consent to operate under Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 as applied by the BKO may be granted for 30.09.2029 with usual conditions and special conditions that:-
1. The BKO shall replace 20% of coal with paddy straw pellets as a fuel as per the guidelines of CPCB/PPCB.
2. The BKO shall install display of notice board in compliance of the Hon’ble National Green Tribunal order dated 25.02.2025 in OA. 359/2022 in the matter of Rafhat Naeem Siddiqui Vs State of UP & Ors.
3. The BKO will obtain Environmental Clearance under EIA notification for mining of brick clay to be used as raw material for manufacturing of bricks at site immediately, if required.
