It is submitted that the unit ‘Renny Strips Pvt Ltd. (RSPL), was granted Environmental Clearance vide SEIAA letter no. SEIAA/M.S./2020/3306 dated 05.11.2020 for production of Steel Ingots/Billets @189000 MT/Year and M.S bar/Coil/Flat/Round/Square, TMT, Angles, Channel, Etc @175000 MT/Year by replacing one 7 TPH furnace with 3 x 15 TPH furnace and other additions.
Further amendment in EC vide letter no. SEIAA/MS/2021/4093 dated 11.05.2021 was taken for installation of two furnaces of capacity 30 TPH and 15 TPH instead of three furnaces.
There is also one adjoining unit Renny Strips Pvt Ltd. Furnace Division (RSPL FD) alongside the unit. RSPL FD obtained EC vide no. SEIAA letter no. DECC/SEIAA/2020/1647 dated 20.05.2020. Thereafter, there was further amendment in EC vide no. EC24B1010PB5467940A dated 15.03.2024. EC vide letter no. EC24B1010PB5467940A dated 15.03.2024 paved way for merger of the two units in the name and style of “M/s Renny Strips Pvt. Ltd.”. After the merger of two units the installed production capacity shall increased to 2,53,800 TPA of Steel Ingots/Billets and 1,75,000 TPA of Rounds, Square, TMT/MS Bars, Angles, Channel, Flats etc. The total project cost of the unit after merger is Rs 62.52 Crores.
Now recently, industry has got its EC “EC25B1011PB5653456T”dated 15.03.2024 transferred to “M/s Renny Strips Ltd.” dated 10.11.2025 as the unit has changed its name. Now the unit has recently approached SEIAA for further expansion in the EC25B1011PB5653456T dated 15.03.2024 however same is under process.
The Industry was earlier granted Consent to operate under Water Act, 1974 vide no. CTOW/Varied/LDH1/2023/21239068 dated 20/03/2023 valid up to 31/12/2027 and Air Act, 1981 vide no. CTOA/Varied/LDH1/2023/20906096 dated 20/03/2023 valid up to 31/12/2027 for production of Steel Ingots/Billets @189000 MT/Year and M.S bar/Coil/Flat/Round/Square, TMT, Angles, Channel, Etc @175000 MT/Year under the name and style of “Renny Strips Pvt Ltd., Vill. Mangarh, Machiwara Road, Kohara, Ludhiana, .
It is pertinent to mention that unit has not carried out merger of the two units and therefore (Environmental Clearance vide SEIAA letter no. SEIAA/M.S./2020/3306 dated 05.11.2020 and subsequent amendments carried out in 2021) is valid.
As per granted Consent Conditions, The Industry has installed induction furnaces of capacity 7 TPH and 30 TPH. Also, it has 2 nos. DG sets of capacity 150 KVA and 75 KVA. The unit doesn’t generate any trade effluent and Domestic Effluent @ 13.0 KLD is disposed on to land for plantation after treatment in STP of 25 KLD. To meet its cooling water requirements, it uses 60 KLD of fresh water.
Recently, unit applied for fresh consent to operate under Water Act, 1974 vide application no. 2512331740 and Air Act, 1981 vide application no. 2512348577 through PBIP under the name and style of Renny Strips Limited. However consents were refused as it was noticed that unit has not obtained its 33% green area as per EC. The Industry was earlier visited by EE Rantej Sharma and AEE Lovinder Singh Mann along with Lab staff on 19.12.2025 as per part of protocol visit and 19.01.2026 by AEE Lovinder Singh Mann for PBIP application. Now, The Industry was visited by AEE Lovinder Singh Mann on 23.02.2026. Based on the visit, it was observed as under: 1. The Industry has currently installed Induction furnaces of Capacity 7 TPH and 30 TPH, 2 Concasts, one rolling mill 1 no. and 8 No. EOTs. 2. The industry has already submitted certificate issued by PSCST, Chandigarh vide no. 341 dated 01-07-2022, wherein PSCST has certified that the industry has completed installation of APCD for 30 TPH furnace. 3. The air emission samples collected on 19.12.2025 shows results are within the prescribe limit framed by the Board. 4. The industry has installed 2 D.G set of 75KVA & 150 KVA, which are equipped with canopies and adequate stacks. 5. The whole water to be used for cooling purposes is re-circulated. 6. The industry has installed STP for treatment of domestic effluent. The STP comprises of oil & grease trap, moving bed bio reactor, secondary tube settler, multi grade filter, activated carbon filter. The treated wastewater is discharged onto land for plantation. 7. The unit is in the process of achieving 33% plantation area. During the visit, the around 600 new plants were being planted. The unit is complying with other provisions of EC and has also provided six monthly compliance report in December, 2025. 8. The industry has provided paved/interlocking tiles at entry/exit. 9. The industry has already submitted revised Building Plans from Competent Person under Factories Act. 10. The Industry is located in designated Industrial zone as per the DTP letter no. 588 dated 07.03.2024
In view of the above, it is recommended that short term consent to operate under Water Act, 1974 and Air Act, 1981 be granted to the unit up to 30.09.2026 for production of MS ROUND/MS WIRE ROD/MS FLAT/MS COIL @ 175000 MTA and STEEL INGOTS/BILLETS @ 189000 MTA using M.S SCRAP/SPONGE IRON @ 206004 MTA and FERRO ALLOYS @3286 MTA with general terms and conditions and with following special conditions:
1.0 The unit will submit in writing in the regional office in one month that it has achieved 33% plantation area. The same must be supported by geo-tagged photographs.
2.0 The unit will adhere to timelines for control of secondary emissions as per PPCB OM No. 450 dated 08.10.2025.
