Kindly peruse the note of EE, ZO. On perusal of the facts recorded therein, it is submitted that M/s Renny Strips Ltd., Vill. Mangarh, Machiwara Road, Kohara, Ludhiana, was originally granted Environmental Clearance by SEIAA vide letter No. SEIAA/M.S./2020/3306 dated 05.11.2020 for production of Steel Ingots/Billets @ 1,89,000 MTA and M.S. Bars/Coils/Flats/Rounds/Squares, TMT, Angles, Channels etc. @ 1,75,000 MTA. The EC was subsequently amended vide letter dated 11.05.2021 permitting installation of furnaces of 30 TPH and 15 TPH capacity. An adjoining unit, Renny Strips Pvt. Ltd. Furnace Division, had also obtained separate EC, which was later amended vide EC dated 15.03.2024 allowing merger of both units under the name M/s Renny Strips Pvt. Ltd., with resultant enhanced installed capacity of 2,53,800 TPA of Steel Ingots/Billets and 1,75,000 TPA of finished M.S. products. The said EC was thereafter transferred to M/s Renny Strips Ltd. on 10.11.2025 due to change in name. The proposal for further expansion under the existing EC is stated to be under consideration by SEIAA.
The unit was earlier granted Consent to Operate under the Water Act, 1974 and the Air Act, 1981 vide letters dated 20.03.2023, valid up to 31.12.2027, for production of Steel Ingots/Billets @ 1,89,000 MTA and M.S. products @ 1,75,000 MTA. It is pertinent that the physical merger of the two units has not been carried out at site and, therefore, the earlier EC along with amendments remains operative. As per consent conditions, the unit has installed induction furnaces of 7 TPH and 30 TPH capacity, two DG sets of 75 KVA and 150 KVA with acoustic enclosures and adequate stacks. The unit does not generate trade effluent. Domestic effluent @ 13 KLD is treated in an STP of 25 KLD capacity and the treated effluent is disposed onto land for plantation. Approximately 60 KLD fresh water is used for cooling purposes and is fully recirculated.
The industry had applied for fresh consent through PBIP under the changed name; however, the same was refused due to non achievement of 33 percent green belt area as stipulated in the EC. The unit was inspected on 19.12.2025 by EE Er. Rantej Sharma and AEE Er. Lovinder Singh Mann along with laboratory staff, on 19.01.2026 by AEE Er. Lovinder Singh Mann and again on 23.02.2026. During inspection, the unit was found operating with one 7 TPH and one 30 TPH induction furnace, two concasts, one rolling mill and eight EOT cranes. APCD for the 30 TPH furnace has been certified by PSCST, Chandigarh vide certificate dated 01.07.2022. Stack emission analysis conducted on 19.12.2025 was found within prescribed limits. The unit has provided paved interlocking at entry and exit points, submitted revised building plans under the Factories Act and is situated in designated industrial zone as per DTP letter dated 07.03.2024. The unit is in the process of achieving 33 percent green belt and approximately 600 new plants were observed being planted during the visit. Six monthly EC compliance report was submitted in December 2025.
In view of the above, short term Consent to Operate under the Water Act, 1974 and the Air Act, 1981 is recommended up to 30.09.2026 for production of MS Round/MS Wire Rod/MS Flat/MS Coil @ 1,75,000 MTA and Steel Ingots/Billets @ 1,89,000 MTA using MS Scrap/Sponge Iron @ 2,06,004 MTA and Ferro Alloys @ 3,286 MTA, subject to general terms and conditions and the following special conditions:
The unit shall submit written compliance within one month confirming achievement of 33 percent green belt area, supported by geo tagged photographs.
The unit shall adhere to timelines for control of secondary emissions as per PPCB Office Memorandum No. 450 dated 08.10.2025.
