• Earlier, the industry was issued show cause notice for revocation/ cancellation of consents to operate under the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, alongwith an opportunity to appear in person before the Senior Environmental Engineer (ZP-1) of the Board in his office at Vatavaran Bhawan, Head Office, Nabha Road, Patiala on 28/01/2026 at 11:00 am. In the said hearing, it was decided as under:
1. The auto-renewed consent to operate obtained by the industry under the Water Act, 1974 be revoked due to the violations carried out by the industry. 2. The auto-renewed consent to operate obtained by the industry under the Air Act, 1981 be cancelled due to the violations carried out by the industry. 3. The industry shall submit a bank guarantee amounting to Rs. 1.0 lac as an assurance to comply with the provisions of the environmental laws at all times, within 7 days in the Regional Office, Patiala. 4. The industry shall remove all the shortcomings/ observations made during visit to the site of the industry and shall apply for obtaining varied consents to operate under the Water Act, 1974 and the Air Act, 1981, within 10 days. 5. Environmental Engineer, Regional Office, Patiala shall take up the matter with Computer Section of the Board for providing patch on the auto-renewal of consent to operate of the industry. 6. Environmental Engineer, Regional Office, Patiala shall re-visit the site of the unit after 15 days, check the compliance of the environmental laws, check the submissions made by the industry during hearing and submit further report/ recommendations in the matter….
• Now, the industry has applied for obtaining varied of consent to operate under the Water Act, 1974 and the Air Act, 1981 along with requisite documents i.e application form, compliance report etc, for manufacturing of Steel and Alloys Steel Sections, Rounds, Square, Flats & Sheets @ 35 MT/ day by using Steel and Alloy Steels Ingots/ Billets @ 40 MT/ day as raw material under orange category…
• RO has reported that the industry is complying with the provisions of Water Act, 1974 & Air Act,1981 and earlier shortcomings for which SCN was issued by the Board…
In view of the report/recommendations sent by EE, RO, Patiala, if approved, Consent to Operate under the provisions of Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 may be granted to the industry upto 30.09.2028 with suitable conditions, conditions as proposed by RO and following additional condition:
1. The industry shall not carry out any activity in its premises, which can change the category of unit from orange to red, without prior permission of the board.
2. The industry shall not carry out any activity in its premises, which is covered under the ambit of EIA notification dated 14.09.2006.
3. The industry shall discharge domestic effluent on land for plantation after passing through septic tank.
4. The industry obtain permission from PWRDA for abstraction of groundwater (if required) and shall comply with the guidelines of PWRDA, at all times.
5. The industry shall not start any production activity at the site, without obtaining prior consent to operate under the Water Act, 1974, and Air Act 1981.
6. The industry shall not discharge the effluent into any drain/ choe/ nallah, in any case.
7. The industry shall not discharge any effluent at any unauthorized place by any unauthorized means i.e. shall not discharge any wastewater in any drain / inland surface waters / drain/ choe/ nallah/ onto land for stagnation or outside its premises, at any time, under any circumstances.
8. The industry has been approved by the Board from pollution angle and the industry shall obtain the statutory clearances/ permissions from all other concerned departments.
9. The adequacy/ efficacy of the pollution control arrangements & disposal arrangements shall be the sole responsibility of the industry and the unit shall be bound to implement/ upgrade its pollution control arrangements as per the discretion of the Board to achieve the prescribed emission/ effluent standards, as amended from time to time.
10. The industry shall ensure the compliance of provisions of the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 and/ or any other environmental law applicable to him and Rules, Circulars & Directions issued by the Board from time to time.
11. In case the industry fails to comply with the provisions of the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 and/ or any other environmental law applicable to the project and Rules, Circulars & Directions issued by the Board from time to time, action as deemed fit shall be taken against the industry
