Sir, kindly peruse the note submitted by AEE. The matter has also been discussed with your good office regarding the applicability of the Hon’ble NGT directions in the present case, wherein no rolling mill or coal-based unit is involved.
Accordingly, in light of the Fuel Policy notified by the State of Punjab on 04.10.2024, and considering the various orders passed by the Hon’ble NGT in OA No. 924 of 2019 and OA No. 295 of 2023, it is proposed that, if approved, the matter may be placed before the Chairperson of the Board for concurrence on the following actions:

1. CTE for setting up of a unit to manufacture Aluminium Ingots and Copper Ingots using copper scrap and aluminium scrap as raw material with bio-mass briquettes as fuel in its melting furnace may be granted for one year with suitable conditions and one of the condition that the industry shall be bound to comply with directions issued by Board w.r.t. amendments in fuel policy from time to time.
2. Further, the officers of the Board may be allowed to grant the CTE/ CTO to other similar industries falling in Mandi Gobindgarh (except rolling mills or any other similar coal based industry) proposing to use any cleaner fuel as mentioned in the fuel policy as per competency, please. |
