| File Note: |
The project proponent has applied for extension of Consent to Establish (CTE) for development of a residential colony at Gidderbaha. The case has been examined with reference to earlier consents, site inspection reports, submissions made by the project proponent, and provisions of the applicable environmental regulations.
It is observed that the project is still under development stage with no occupancy reported. The project proponent has revised the proposal by enhancing the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) capacity to 720 KLD and has undertaken to install and commission the same prior to occupancy. The built-up area, as per latest submission, remains below the prescribed threshold, thereby not attracting the provisions of EIA Notification dated 14.09.2006 at this stage, subject to adherence to stipulated limits.
The reply submitted by the project proponent to the Show Cause Notice has been examined. The proponent has provided a revised water balance, disposal mechanism through reuse and plantation (including application of Karnal Technology), and supporting undertakings regarding compliance prior to occupancy. The disposal proposal, based on hydraulic loading norms, appears technically acceptable. Since the project is yet to become operational and deficiencies observed can be regulated through stringent conditions.
In view of the above, if approved, extension of Consent to Establish (CTE) may be granted for a period of one year subject to conditions as proposed by EE,ZO.
