As per RO report, the industry had submitted a bank guarantee of Rs. 7.5 lacs as an assurance not to discharge any effluent (treated or untreated), into any inland surface water and also to comply with the environmental laws and directions issued by the Board from time to time, which had expired on 24/05/2015. Thereafter, the industry submitted a cheque amounting to Rs. 7.5 lacs in this office, in place of said bank guarantee, from time to time which got expired on 30/06/2016, 30/09/2016, 31/12/2016 and 31/03/2017. Now, the industry has submitted a cheque of Rs. 7.5 lacs bearing no. 606106 dated 01/04/2017 in the favour of Environmental Engineer, Punjab Pollution Control Board and the same has expired on 30/06/2017. The industry is a violator as per earlier reorts of RO. It is felt that entertaining cheque in place of BG by RO at its own level is not in order, therefore before deciding the case RO may be asked to obtain BG from industry as an assurance to ensure compliance at all times.
