The industry was earlier granted ‘Consent to Operate’ under Water Act, 1974 vide no. LDH/RO2/WPC/2013-14/F-1361 dated 18.12.2013 valid upto 31.12.2023 & Air Act, 1981 vide no. LDH/EEI/air/GREEN/1248 dated 03.01.2014 valid upto 31.12.2023 for Green category. The industry has now applied for varied 'Consent to Operate' under Water Act, 1974 & Air Act, 1981 under orange category. The industry was visited by the officers of the Board on 23.03.2018 & it was observed as under:-
1. The industry was in operation during visit and engaged in manufacturing of Sewing Machine body & Sewing Machine parts.
2. There is no source of trade effluent generation and domestic effluent is being discharged into sewer.
3. The industry has installed 1 no. electric paint booth with inbuilt water curtain as APCD.
4. The industry has installed 1 no. electric baking oven and provided hood & stack.
5. The industry has installed one DG set of capacity 62 KVA with canopy & adequate stack height.
6. The industry has not obtained NOC for Expansion for installing paint booth and baking oven.
7. The industry has not made Hazardous waste room for storage of HW cat. 21.1 (Paint Sludge) and cat. 5.1 (Waste oil).
8. The industry has submitted the building plans approved from competent person under Director of Factories, Punjab.
9. The industry is mentioned at Sr. no. R.O-I/LDH/WA/408 in the inventory maintained by Regional Office-1, Ludhiana.
10. The industry is not complying with the conditions of previous consent granted under Water Act, 1974 & Air Act, 1981.
In view of above, it is recommended that action under Water Act, 1974 & Air Act, 1981 and Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016 be initiated against the industry.
