1. The height of the stack H=14 Q0.3 Where Q = Quantity of SO2 in Kg/hours The industry is using Furnace oil as fuel in its furnace. In the sulphur content was assumed to be 2%, the specific gravity of furnace oil was taken to be 0.95 and calculation for done for fuel consumption of 25 ltrs/hr. The required height of stack using the above formula was found out to be: H= 13.78 mtrs i.e 45 feets. However, the stack provided by the industry of 50 feets from ground level, which is adequate.
2. The industry has provided irrigation area of 400 sq. yd. which is adequate.
Keeping in view of the above, it is recommended that the consent under Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 may be granted to the industry upto 30.09.2021 with usual conditions. |
