File Note: It is intimated that the industry was granted consent under Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 vide no. ZO R15LDH2CTOW2696247 dated 28.5.2015 valid upto 30.6.2018 with the condition that the industry will shift the complete unit to the designated industrial area as and when required under the zoning regulations of notified Master Plan of Ludhiana. Now, the industry has applied for renewal of consent under Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 alongwith documents through online. The consent fee deposited by the industry is adequate upto 30.6.2023. Accordingly, the industry was visited by AEE of this office on 28.6.2018 & observed that:- 1. The industry was in operation during visit. 2. The industry has provided 5 caustic dhols and 4 zinc barrels. 3. The industry has made agreement with M/s JBR Technology Pvt. Ltd., Ludhiana @ 5000 Ltr/M for the treatment & disposal of trade effluent generated from zinc plating process. 4. During visit, effluent from effluent collection tank was being directly discharged into sewer manhole outside industry using flexible pipes and pump. 5. The industry has provided water meter which had a reading of 1.50 KL during the visit. As per record reading on 17.6.2018 was 121170 ltr and on 1.1.2018 was 118320 ltr and effluent lifted was 31500 ltr to as per JBR manifest produced during the visit. 6. The industry has provided storage tank of capacity 3500 Ltr to store effluent generated from process & the same was full upto brim. 7. The industry has not installed any D.G. set/furnace/boiler within the premises. 8. The industry is not complying with the conditions of consent granted to it and is violating the provisions of Water Act, 1974. Keeping in view of the above, it is recommended that consent to operate under Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 may be refused and action u/s 33-A of Water Act, 1974 may be initiated against the industry for closure and environmental compensations of suitable amount may be imposed please.
