It is intimated that the industry is a small-scale red category unit. The industry was granted consent to operate under Water Act, 1974 vide no. R14LDH2CTOW4437673 dated 30.08.2016 and under Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 vide no. R14LDH2CTOA4437827 dated 30.08.2016 for production of electroplating & cycle parts @ 600 Kgs/day.
Now, industry has applied for renewal of consent to operate under Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and under Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 alongwith documents through OCMMS.
Accordingly, the industry was visited by Er. Ravdeep Singh, AEE of this office on 03.07.2018 and observed that:-
1. The industry was in operation and is engaged in the process of zinc-plating.
2. The industry has installed 02 zinc barrels.
3. The industry has installed water meter at pipeline from where fresh water is consumed in process and the reading was noted to be 38.28 KL.
4. The water auditing for the industry was done. As per record the reading was 29.18 KL on 01.01.2018. As such the industry has consumed 9.1 KL of fresh water in the year 2018. The industry has got lifted 9.5 KL to the M/s JBR Technologies Pvt. Ltd, Ludhiana.
5. The industry has provided two storage tanks of total capacity 2500 ltr for storage of its trade effluent and about 500 Ltr. effluent was lying stored at the time of visit.
6. The industry has made agreement with M/s JBR Technologies Pvt. Ltd, Ludhiana @ 2000 Ltr./Month for its disposal of trade effluent generated from process.
7. The industry has maintained the record of water consumption in process as well as effluent lifted by M/s JBR Technologies Pvt. Ltd, Ludhiana.
8. The industry is discharging only domestic effluent into sewer.
9. The industry is complying with consent conditions granted to it.
The industry is situated in New Janta Nagar which is non-designated area as per Master Plan, Ludhiana. Now, the Board has issued order vide no. 21 dated 08.06.2018 regarding continuation of operation of Industrial establishments in mixed Land use/non-designated area of Ludhiana upto 15 years from date of notification of the master plan which were established before the notification of the Master Plan, Ludhiana.
Keeping in view of the above, it is recommended that consent to operate under Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 may be renewed to the industry for 30.06.2023 with usual conditions.
